I have a Massey 135 with an old Massey tubular style loader with a trip bucket. I built an auxiliary hydraulic system driven off the front pulley and currently use that for the single acting lift cylinders. I accuired an oversize snow bucket that forced me to convert it to hydraulic dump due to it not being balanced as the small manure bucket. I am running this for the time being off the tractor hydraulics. This setup is very awkward being the hydraulic levers are far apart. The trip mechanism for the manure bucket is not functioning properly so I am considering converting the manure bucket to hydraulic dump also. To improve the whole system I am considering adding a joystick to the auxiliary system to run the FEL.

Question; right now the pump is low output guessing 4 gallons (not much less than the tractor hydraulics at 4.5 gallons/minute) Can I or should I consider a regenerating valve to help speed cycle time and will it work with a combination of single and double acting cylinders. I understand that the unused line due to the single acting cylinder will have to go back to tank. The pump is an SAE mount and one with more flow should be easibly installed in the present mount and will be changed as funds allow. open center system.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Do you mean add a joystick lever to what you have now or install a new joystick valve?

replace the single spool single acting valve with a two spool double acting joystick valve

That is correct.

Regen only occurs in the dump mode.

Tilt the stick right, for regular dump and more right for fast dump.

Thanks J.J. I'll get one on order.

Thanks J.J. I'll get one on order.

I just received my special order Brand Hydraulics joystick through a local hydraulics retailer and it came with PB at no extra cost. I don't need PB right now so the question is do I remove it and plug the port or just plug the outlet of the PB? My understanding is if you remove it, you can use it for the return port and plug the other port. If I plug the PB will it continually blow the relief? Now have to wait for some warmer weather to make a mounting bracket, get the fittings figured out and purchase some different hoses.

If you have a valve after the loader, and you should, you need PB to feed the pump flow downstream.

Looking back to your first post, you are running this valve on a secondary (auxiliary) pump circuit that is not tied into the rear hydraulics. No you do not need the Power Beyond in this case, but you cannot simply plug it. Either run 2 hoses for tank return or remove the PB sleeve then run tank return from either that port or the "T" tank port.

SSdoxie is correct that if that is the only valve and the first valve in the circuit, the return always goes to tank.

To clear up the PB thing.

Most valves come with PB port and is not really functional if you are not adding any more valves downstream.

You can not plug a PB sleeve as that makes that valve a closed center valve.

If it came with the PB sleeve installed, you can do two things.

Remove the PB sleeve and plug the PB port and run the OUT line to tank/reservoir.

Use the PB port and tee the PB hose and the OUT hose and then run a hose to tank.

Your choice, but removing the PB sleeve and plugging the PB port would be the cheapest.

Thanks for all the help. Now, like I said earlier, I need some warm weather to get this installed. We have had plenty of cold so far but not enough snow to use the tractor to plow but I can't risk taking it down in case of snow. Was hoping to get this done before winter but the special order took time because of valve body casting supplier problems. More below zero weather later in the week. Its a long winter so far.

Thanks again

P.S. I hope to be down in Florida visiting relatives from Jacksonville area, Cresent City and Tampa area in April. Hope to soak up some sunshine and eat some fresh seafood. Can't wait!
