Buying Advice Powerstar T4.75

Sorry to hear about your tractor but every brand out there has a lemon now and then. I have talked to several locals that have the T4 and they love them. No problems other than the ones they created themselfves by improper maintenance is all that they reported.

Update. I will be tradeing off my 75c. Only 61 hours on it, spent more time in shop than in my barn. I would recomend buying anything other than the powerstar line of tractors.

What issues has it been in the shop for?

Transmission shifting issues, It is now going back to shop again. Transmission is stuck in 2nd gear. May have to split tractor to fix it this time. All the loader hoses had to be replaced, due to a manufacturing defect. Tractor was delivered with loader not functioning. 4WD cable linkage froze up. This tractor sets in the barn most of the time. Instrument panel quit working. Case won't buy it back, dealer won't deal on a different tractor. Going to trade it off on a new Kubota is what I am thinking about.

Tanker,
That is too bad to hear. It must be aggravating as can be to not have the dealer back you up when something like this happens. You certainly shouldn't be having all those problems with a brand new tractor. I'd be interested to hear the outcome if you don't mind keeping us updated.

Dealership found problem and said parts are 5 weeks out. Talked with sales manager about tradeing on a new Kubota
and he quotes me retail price to wholesale price for my tractor. Anyone looking to buy a new piece of equipment stay away from dealership in Washington Indiana, they will not take care of there customers.

Tanker, that's good they found the problem, can you share what it was? It might be helpful to others down the road if they experience the same thing. There is another thread going right now about a problem with the John Deere 5M series hydraulics and the dealers don't know much about it, it sounds like other members posting is what really helps solve a problem sometimes. It's too bad you ended up with some bad luck, seems like that happens once in a while with all manufacturers, Kubota included.

I agree all makes have issues from time to time, but the dealer will try to keep the customer happy. This dealer won't even try. I will be trading with another dealer. They never told me what was wrong,(I didn't ask) just that parts are 5 weeks out. They won't give me a loaner unit either. I had always owned New Holland before, so I thought Case (being the same company) would be good also. I will be never own another red tractor again. The dealers make the brand in my opinion.
The dealer in Washington Indiana isn't worth a dime.

The 75C is going down the road. Talked to my New Holland dealer and told him the issues I was having with my Case IH, He hooked me up with a new T4040 with FEL. Gave me a solid deal. Made me happy anyways. Glad to be rid of the case dealer. The 75C was the first and last red tractor I will ever own.

Aren't those basically the same tractor in a different color?

No the T4040 is in no way comparable with the powerstar series. The T4000's are a lot heavier built.

Gotcha, now I know. Hope this one treats you better.

Glad it is working out good for you in the end. Too bad you had to go through all that aggravation though.

Ive been looking at the t4.75. I was quoted with loader and cab $36000. Does any one know how big of a round baler this tractor can handle?

It will run a 5x4,thats what I run with a 64hp Kubota. I do have to run in low if it has some hills,I will have to run in low but that powerstar has 12x12 mines a 8x8 some should have a better gear selection. When I looked at the powerstar last year was quoted 45...

I was quoted 52k fully loaded with all options. I thought that was high.

Anyone have any idea what size rims one would need to run the wider 13.6 tires like the euro version powerstars?

Assuming you're talking about the rear tires, 13.6 would be narrower than any rear tire offered in North America.

If you're referring to the front tires on a FWD I believe they do offer a 13.6-16.1 8PR R3, but that requires 16.9 x 24 R3 rear tires, so you would be quite low with little ground clearance compared to 16.9x30 rears.

In any case, 13.6 tires mount on 12 inch wide rims. What are you trying to get it set up for?

Yes I was talking about the front axle. The euro ones seem to run wider front tires for some reason.

The Euro spec 4.75 has a lot more options than we get, some really nice ones too that I'd love to have! Such as upgraded rear lift capacity.

Great price! I want to buy a T4.75 Cab w/FEL, 4WD, air seat, 2 remotes...quoted $40,700. Hoping for a better incentive sale from NH, so I can purchase one. Very nice tractor. SB
