My BX23 handles the chipper very well. It does make te tractor feel unstable on rough ground. Do the wheel spacers make a big difference?

Glenn with the Chipper on mine I can hardly tell it's back there but I haven't used it on rough ground yet either so It might be very different when that happens and I'll be sure to let you know. If everything lines up right for me personally I should be giving it a good run tomorrow evening. As for the wheel spacers. They were one of the first items I purchased for the tractor. I think of it like this. Stand up straight with your legs close together and allow yourself to sway to the side left and right. It's easy to fall over isn't it? Now do the same but put your legs apart and sway side to side again. It feels much firmer doesn't it? Well that's the way the BX feels and for me being in the seat I like having all the stability I can get

Well these two mods will be the last I'll be posting on the BX25D. In the last two weeks I've come up with a lot of different mods that I think are unique to this type of tractor and practical. If your not tired of seeing this stuff then you should be because I am at this point lol.

Anyway we all know how important it is to have a tool box on a tractor. Well it's the same for a chipper I guess so ours now has it's own tool box. The brackets are all aluminum and I used the existing holes that I had for the chipper extension. I also lined the box with some foam to help save the bottom of the box when throwing items in it and yes. I did drill a few small holes in the box to let any water out that may find it's way in.

I also had a pair of branch cutters that I wanted to have on hand so I made a holder for them out of some scrap aluminum I had then tig welded everything together. I put the tool box and cutter holder on the feeder side of the machine becuase I didn't want to have to walk over to the other side each time I needed them. Yes, I'm getting lazy lol.

To keep the boredom going I attached a few extra photo's for you viewing pleasure.

Thanks Jay. I appreciated all your comments. Ya Brave Milo. He's our grand dog. Our boy got married last summer and we had to doggy sit for two weeks. Man that little dog was some fun to have around. Glad you enjoyed the video. The next few will be with the machine working

Thanks Aaron. Happy to hear that. Glad I got this finished now. Its hard keeping the shop work done and these mods all at the same time.
Yesterday we came to a financial settlement with the manufacture of the chipper for the powder coating pealing. It would have never happened only for my Kubota dealer so my next project in the fall will be to sand blast, epoxy prime and paint the new chipper so I may post that work then.

The quote from the other site is spot on regarding proper powder coating prep. Another thing is that certain powders are designed only for indoor use. The manufacturers plainly state this on their color charts, and yet people will use them on outdoor projects and wonder why the stuff fails.

Around here I see so many GM and Chrysler vehicles and the occasional Ford that are painted white and the paint has peeled off in sheets. What surprises me is that it's white that's failing in epic proportions. I would expect that of certain reds or other colors; but white?

You are correct about manufacturers using powder coating to save a buck as the labor if manually sprayed on doesn't have to be as skilled as someone who uses a paint gun. Another reason the manufacturers like powder coating is that it earns them brownie points with the EPA and tree huggers as the stuff tends to be non-toxic, the excess can be resused if collected properly, and no VOC's are present. The company who I use for powder coating does it as a sideline to their primary business of metal fabrication. The guy I deal with has told me the powder coaters are the lowest paid guys in the shop as they are unskilled labor. Roadrunner Fabrication

Another thing I've noticed is anything made in China tends to have crappy finishes regardless of type.

Thanks man. Ya I needed a tool box and the clippers and they needed to be close to the area I'm working in so that should do it. Kind of need a chain box as well but I promise I won't post that :laughing:

Im far from a grammar expert but I believe Stihl is pronounced like "Steel" not "Still". Please correct me if Im wrong but would that make your saw holder "Steel Here" Or maybe change it to "Place Steel Here".

Im far from a grammar expert but I believe Stihl is pronounced like "Steel" not "Still". Please correct me if Im wrong but would that make your saw holder "Steel Here" Or maybe change it to "Place Steel Here".

Please educate me, as i have some of the supplies to start powder-coating, and want to do it right. Is this epoxy primer a powder/oven application? Or are you talking about a liquid? If liquid, is it a 2-part epoxy mix?
When i've tried to buy 2-part epoxy paints at my local autoparts stores they look at me with crossed eyes, don't stock any. I have used some in marine applications.
Excellent work 4shorts! Any plans for a grapple? Or did i miss that post!
