Kubota/bx2660
All,

I have a 2011 kubota bx2660 with hydrostatic transmission with 145hrs. I have just bought this used. I have noticed when I release either the forward pedal or reverse pedal the tractor still contiue's to move (very slowly). It stops a couple of seconds later. Is there a problem with my trasmission or is this normal? I have also noticed it gets better as the time progresses. any suggestions if this is not normal?

Lubricate the foot pedal. It should come back to center when released which will stop the tractor.

What John said, these things are designed not to stop too suddenly when you take your foot off the pedal, so it won't stop immediately, but it sounds s though your pedal need lubrication, there is a tab in the floor pad to access the zerk. Some people use a thinner grease, but I use the same on it as everywhere else.

When I saw the topic title, I thought smokey burnouts on a tractor...I must investigate. I was disappointed:laughing:

thanks for all suggestions. I cleaned all area's of foot pedal assembly with parts cleaner and then greased zerk. Does seem a little better but am still concerned something not right? Doesn't seem natural to stop tractor in tight area with pushing the other foot pedal?

Without actually seeing it in action, it is not possible to tell if it is within normal parameters. My wife did not initially like the BX2660 as it did not stop as quickly upon releasing the HST pedal as the BX2200, but now prefers the slower stops.

Kubota got a lot of complaints on the BXxx50 due to abrupt stopping and modified it on the BXxx60.

I don't have enough bandwidth to post a video of ours, but if you do maybe we can tell if it is working as designed.

Now that would indeed be something to see! :)

Had a BX2200 and loved it, had a BX2350 and hated it for the abrupt stop in reverse and traded for the BX2660 and as you I noticed it did seem to stop less quickly as the BX2200 and the BX2350. In other words, same results as you've had. Believe it is operating normally if it stops.

I'd get under the tractor and crank the nut a few turns on the return spring. It might not be enough since you greased the zerk already . Did you use heavy duty grease or light duty grease? I use the cheap light stuff for the HST and heavy duty for FEL and everything else.

There is a adjustment that is supposed to be done at 100hrs to the pedal return. I asked once about it but nobody on here knew. I need to find out how to do it, it won't be long before I hit 100hrs. I am not sure if kubota has a specification for the return time of the pedal.

You think about like me, I thought he was drifting it like this: Vaughn Gittin Jr. Monster Mustang Drifting Ford Factory - YouTube

I have a 2660 with 64 hours and have noticed the same thing. Stops more abruptly with the throttle up though. When in two wheel drive it stops even slower it actually rolls quite a bit after release of the pedal. I was also wondering if this is normal, I have greased it twice.

I've had a BX2200, BX1500, BX2350, BX2660, BX25. They all are a bit different and operate a bit different. To start adjusting when something is operating normally can be a problem especially for warranty. I currently have a B2620 and previously owned a B7800, B3200, B2320. The B2620 seems to run rougher than the B2320. I went to Barlows and tried another new B2620 and it runs like mine so therefore I guess mine is running normally for the model. I won't be getting out any wrenches or socket sets to be trying to adjust anything. Now have about 15 hours on it and either it is getting smoother or I'm adjusting to it's running/vibration level.:)
Three owners of BX2660s have told you the slight run on/drifting is normal or theirs does it. Go to a dealer and try one and see if it does betetr or worse than yours.

I believe the grease I used is a multipurpose grease. not 100% though. I will try getting a thin grease and possibly making adjustment to spring if need be. thanks for all the reply's.

I just want to say man, you have a heck of an arsenal. You give a good point. no wreches or sockets yet. I have a mechanical mind and technician by trade. My thought process is everything is repairable but don't mess with it if it isn't broke either. Thanks for the advise.

If you follow the linkage of the HST damper to rear of tractor and look up. There is a silver spring and a locknut on it. Using a rachet wrench and extension - you can tighten the compression by a couple turns or so . its so easy once you look.

zerk on HST pedal ? ....dunno, will look for one ...never greased one so far:confused3:

Look at the rubber mat near the pedal and you will find a small cutout flap the size of your finger tip. Pull this up and look in the hole to find the zerk. Clean with carb spray and push new lube. I use red synthetic for this purpose because it's lighter.
