Tiller How big of a tiller can a kubota bx 1860 power

I just bought a kubota bx 1860 to replace my recently blown up ford 6n. I always borrowed my neighbors 4 ft tiller for the 3 point. Well between my tractor blowing up and he is moving I'm stuck having to buy one. So just wondering what is the biggest you guys have had luck with on the bx thanks for the help.

There are 48" and then there are 48" XB models. I do not know if there is a recommended PTO horse power difference between them, but I really enjoyed the XB sized implements on the BX1860.

I think the question really is, what are you actually tilling? already tilled garden and nothing else? are you tilling between plants? 40-48 in is good for between plants or just making sure you have all the power pto power you need in virgin, clay, rocky soil. If you are just tilling sand or tilling a fluffy soil, 5 footer will be fine, no matter what others try to tell you.

welcome to tractorsbynet i would look at a 4 foot wide tiller if you gp new get a TSC brand i had a 5 footer for along time the only problem with a tiller they break the drive chain not a big deal buy some spare links then when it breaks you can repair it and as far as other 3pt stuff stick with 4 foot equipment gd luck

I have a B2620 which is a 26 HP tractor. I find my 60 inch tiller pushes it to the limit. I have to go very slow in heavy untilled clay but can do it. I would think on your 18 HP tractor the 48 inch would be as big as you would want to go.

Find your best price and take it into TSC and they will beat the price, or at least that is what they do at the TSC I go to. I found a Tarter 5' tiller at Lowes (yes Lowes) for $1505, and TSC sold me one of there's (made by Behlem) priced at $1700 for $1500 just to beat out Lowes, which was good as Lowes was going to have to order it in (when it became available at their store) and TSC had it in stock.

that is pretty good, especially being a different brand. Stores will usually use that to deny price matching, even if they know and you know that they are the same thing.

The manager at the TSC was familiar with all the look alike tillers (Tarter,KK,Behlem,Countyline) so he knew they were basically the same thing.

Ted, I wanted to confirm what you said on shipping. I figured the distance and Afton nor Des Moines makes the 1000 mile rule for free shipping. I am looking at buying 3 attachments, but shipping makes a difference

I have a B1700 that is 14HP@ PTO and I run a Befco 48" tiller with no problems...just make sure you use a slip clutch...most obstructions will raise the tiller but with minimal HP...if you hit a big root etc. the slip clutch will save something from breaking...
