I finished the fabrication on the blade.
The cylinder and hoses should arrive UPS tomorrow.

Tom

I think it needs a few JD or frontier decals.

Hi Roger,
Not a bad idea.
I have seen them for sale on ebay.
All various sizes, styles and the prices were not too bad.

I think you'll like it for snow removal, it beats getting on and off the tractor every 2 minutes to re-adjust the blade. I'd be lost without power angle now.

I got some decals of ebay probably cheaper than what I could have bought them locally and I did not have to drive to a pick them up.

Mounted up the cylinder tonight after work and it work wonderfully.
I gave it a short try-out and scaped some ice off the road.
I am truely going enjoy this feature.

It looks very good, like it was factory made.

Do you use the blade without bushings on the QH?

Thanks.
No bushings on the 2 lower pins.
I picked some up at TSC and accidentally bought the wrong size.
It's on the opposite side of the town I haven't been out there since.
I have to buy some more hydraulic fluid and might get out there after dinner one night this week and get the right ones then.

You may want to check at your tractor dealer. Mine was waaaayyyyy cheaper than TSC on bushings.

im always amazed at the time and energy people put into projects considering the starting products and finish products....

That works great Tom. I think you'll really enjoy having that much control over how your blade attacks dirt and snow.

Thanks guys.
That was the first video I have ever posted.
took a few minutes to figure out how.
My son is more impressed with the video post than he is with the blade.
I'm always making projects and showing the kids how things work...
I guess it's a little boring to them, but a video post on You Tube
Wow dad!:confused3:

Tom nice work!

Is there any way to put in an Auto center feature for the blade in the future? Asking because I would like to do something similar with the Kubota

Thanks.

I don't know if it would be simple or inexpesive to do so.
When angled you would want it to hold the angled position. A log splitter valve has detent return but will not allow a position control in two directions.
Maybe two logsplitter valves and flow shuttles?
But
Something/Pressure has to signal it has reached center position and cause the control to release.
I build and service pneumatic/electric automated equipment at work and I know I could whip up a control device using a combination of the two quickly but I am not as familiar with what is available in hydraulic controls.
At work I would use limit switches or proximity sensors and could deactivate 12 volt hydraulic solenoids.
Bit of a tough one without involving electronics I think.
Just starting to work with hydraulics on this tractor.
Far left or right would be easy enough, but center is a different story.
A proximity switch can be mounted on the cylinder and it could sense when the piston is at the center position.
You need electronics to use the proximity switch?

unless you are doing millimeter jobs... just stick/paint 2 lines and when they match.. you are in the center! ;)

I'm pretty sure it could be done like Tom said, but it would be more complicated than anything I'd want to tackle. I don't think the microswitches would stand up to the use my blade gets moving ice and snow. Hydraulic (pressure) switching would be the more robust way to do it, but I don't know if that's possible.

Nice job, Tom! Looks like an OEM product, which is supposed to be a compliment.. the cycle time is fairly quick, but not too fast either. Nice balance between speed and precision. You used a 3" cylinder, right? I think your hydraulic flow must be somewhere close to my Kubota, the cylinder movement speed is about the same or slightly quicker.
