I have a TC35D hydrostatic the cruise control went out years ago. Never needed it before to cut or bale hay. Now that I'm looking at double knee replacement thought it might be time to get it fixed. Can anyone tell me where to get started figuring this problem out. Not only is the cruise out but the turn signals and flashers don't work. I really don't need the signals or flashers because it very seldom leaves the farm. Will be thankful for any help.

Welcome to TBN! You should post a note to the New Holland forum. You will find a lot of help there. I also did a quick search using the key words cruise control and the New Holland Owning/Operating forum. I found this thread on how to check the cruise control http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/.../240783-tc35d-cruise-control-not-working.html

That thread wasn't complete, but it will get you started. Do some more searching, but do also post to the NH forum where jinman hangs out. I am positive he will get your problems solved.

OBG, the first question to answer is if the green cruise control lamp illuminates when you press on the cruise switch? Does it remain illuminated until you turn off cruise? If the answer is yes, then your problem is probably the cruise magnet is not working. If the light does not illuminate or stay illuminated, then the problem could be the switch, a relay, or the brake pedals. Check the light for us and let us know what you see. We'll go from there.:)

I agree with checking the fuse. On my 31 I have to lift the brake with my toe when I set the cruise otherwise it will not stay on.

Guys, the reason I did not suggest checking fuses is that on this tractor there are two fuses that apply. One of them (#2) supplies power to the switch. If it is blown, the tractor won't start because it supplies power to the starter solenoid and fuel cutoff solenoid. The other fuse (#5) would make his transmission dual-speed (rabbit-turtle) malfunction and his alternator would not charge because it would have no field current. Both of which he surely would have reported as a more critical problem than cruise. Certainly, checking fuses is not going to hurt, but the symptoms say that the fuses are fine. I don't know the specifics of your DX33 or TC31DA, but the the TC35D wiring is something I know.

Good call Jim. LOL I figured I'd start with the basics.

Mine, the sleeving for the wire that goes to the electromagnet is starting to wear through. Something to check also when all else fails.

I looked at your photo and that is a mess inside your steering column cowling. On th e TC35D, you can actually see the cruise magnet by crawling under the operator's platform on the right side. If you know where to look/feel, you can run your hand along the wire and feel the connector. I haven't asked the OP to do that yet because I want to know the status of his lights. If his lights aren't working, there are other things to check first. He hasn't posted back, so I'm not sure if he is logging into the website lately. Like so many of us, he may be covered in Christmas Shopping and prep for THE celebration.
