One my wife doesn't let me live down:

One day I hooked up my 16' car hauler; I was in a rush to get it all hooked up - lock? Check. Chains? Check. Lights? Check.

Got in the truck, put it in drive; felt like the brakes were dragging real bad. Looked at the brake control - nope, no errors, looks fine - let me test it. Yep, works. Brakes hold. Now try to drive again. Feels like something's caught, I'll just gun it, maybe it'll work loose!

I had left the jack on the trailer down and dug a trench with it all around the yard.

My wife comes out and says: "Do we have a mole or something?" :laughing:

I had to replace my jack when I did that. The wheels broke off.

Recently did my first cartridge oil filter change, was pretty proud I got it all switched out no mess or hassle, cleaned up and throwing stuff in the garbage when I notice a rattle in the filter box. Adapter kit I needed for that engine and new seals in the little baggy in the bottom. That could have been embarrassing, and it did take a lot of time to get everything back out and swap that filter again.

Reminds me of what happened to a coworker's B-I-L. He drove up to a stop sign, stopped, looked left..looked right..all was clear so he gave it snus and promptly rear ended the car stopped in front of him.

I remember back when I was replacing the cam in a 350 Chevy small block. I had the intake on and all sealed up nicely and everything and I was quite pleased with the speed of assembly I was making until I went to adjust the valves. For some reason I forgot to install the lifters and push rods.

I was in my new shop to change the oil in my F-350. Got the oil drained, put the new filter on and then turned a 1 gallon jug of oil into the funnel. All of a sudden, I hear this loud spilling noise! Must of had at least 2 quarts in by that time. I had forgot to put the oil pan plug back in! :smiley_aafz:
Had a nice big stain all over my new shop floor.

I changed the oil on the car, everything buttoned up then started it and oil sprayed everywhere because the gasket from the old filter was stuck on the engine.
