Steering columns

I have a question, is a steering column from a 318 the same as one that is from a 430? I may put one from a 318 in my 317, but after looking at BobK's on MTF, its going to be a very complicated project if they are the same.

Just look in the on line JD parts catalog and type in the model numbers

John Deere 318 lawn and garden tractor - steering shaft part number
Tractor SN to - 285000 is part # AM 39498
Tractor SN 285001 - on up is part number AM102391

John Deere 430 lawn and garden tractor steering shaft part # is AM 102391

Okay, thanks for the numbers!! I looked at another conversion, and I'm pretty sure they are the same. Because the 318 column was a 5 port, along with the 430 column. They both require alot of work!!
