Looking for some new mirror glass to stick on top of my current passenger side mirror to get rid of the "fun house" effect. I'd rather have a straight up mirror like the driver side for backing trailers up.
So far, anything that I've found seems to be convex like is currently on the truck. Anyone know of a source for a fit over mirror that isn't convex? It's a 2012 F150.

I have actually had good luck with a mirror on a Jet Boat that I simply bought a piece of mirror at a glass shop and glued it on with special glue in a caulking tube. I made a templet out of construction paper for them. It was like $10. Don't skimp on the glue. I tried some I had on a project at the house once and it would not hold.

Also, at Auto Zone and such they have a peel and stick mirror that is very nice that you cut to shape. I use them all the time to put a mirror in boats on the back side of the bath room door.

Used to be you could get a passenger side flat glass for a F350 or F450 that would work provided it was the same mirror option. On Fords I think your options are with or without power mirror, retractable mirror, heated mirror, and turn signal, along with various combinations of the aforementioned. Also, an earlier year with the same shape would work. Best way to attach it would be with silicone sealer. Try Advance, Autozone or NAPA and see what they may have listed.

I'll be visiting my local NAPA tomorrow to pick some Howe's that I ordered. I'll ask the boys if there are any options. Will pay a visit to Auto Zone's site also. The mirror is heated and power, but doesn't retract and the signal light is in the plastic housing, not the glass itself on this truck.
I ordered one of the stick on mirrors for a '94 Eldorado that I used to have. It fit perfectly. But it was driver's side and I ditched that bookmark after I got rid of the car so I don't remember where I got it from.

Make a cardboard template, and take it to a glass shop that makes mirrors.

Have them make you a single strength mirror, (thin), which you can attach to the existing mirror with double faced tape.

the 'help' section of some auto stores used to sell stick on repalcement mirror lenses. AIR they are flat and not conves and no thte 'closer than they appear' type effect. I vaugely remember having to get one for a 90 merc cougar I had that the now ex-wife clipped a mailbox with and cracked the orm glass.. but the power worked file. glued a close fit over it and unless you looked you couldn't tell, as the mittor housing didn't even crack from the hit.. just flexed enough to crack the lense..

Places like Auto Zone usually carry a bunch of Dorman products in the "help" sections. I'm looking into that too. I've found some of the stuff that Chris mentions where you can cut your own and stick it on, but to this point have only found 7x10. I'll go out when day breaks and get myself a measurement and try to proceed from there but I think I'll need bigger.
Like you mentioned about your ex, I did something similar to an old Caddy that I used to have. But I actually bought one made to fit the car that stuck on top of the old cracked one. But that was driver side so I didn't have to think about the convex issue, it was already flat glass.
I also found this stuff. But looking at the website I'm not sure whether it's possible to self cut this stuff without damaging it. Maybe next time I'm in town I'll just take ray66v's suggestion and stop by the local auto glass place and get their opinion. I'm pretty sure that those guys won't be low budget.

CIPA seems to the the predominant cut & stick that I'm finding via Google. The mirror is approximately 9" at the widest point and 6 3/4 high. I can get CIPA in a 7x10.
Looks like etrailer.com was the lowest combined cost. $7.99 for the item and $2.99 shipping so we'll give it a shot.

Although some do make them, you don't usually go to an auto glass shop, for a mirror. Just an ordinary mirror and glass shop will do it.

Sometimes it's better if you don't tell a glass shop what you are going to use the glass for, because in some cases it presents legal issues. Replacing an "objects are closer than they appear" wide angle mirror with an ordinary one, is one of those cases.

We had lots of mirror glasses made for customers in our body shop, it never was very expensive.

We've got one local shop that does both. They do auto glass plus they do all kinds of commercial and residential glass stuff. But for now I've ordered the CIPA stuff and we'll see how it goes.
