How wide is your grapple? Looks to be pretty big! Be easy to get ahold of more than you should... :D

Last night, our local hay Co-op received half of our 88 ton order. I unloaded 22 tons of it with the 110TLB. Picking those ton bags from the straps at the top of the semi-trailer was all the 110 could do! 'Course the loader was nearly at the top of the boom cylinder lift, too. Had to use the curl to clear the bottom off the pallets.

Unloaded the second trailer (22 tons) with the neighbor's 5425. No weight in the tires and just ~400lb wheel weights... oh, oh! One of the neighbor's started out unloading before I got there and grabbed a bag and left the load high while turning - darn near tripped the tractor onto it's nose! Dropped the 1 ton bag onto the ground and puked fertilizer all over!

Nonetheless, they didn't want to operate the tractor anymore after that; so, I started using it. The 542 NSL loader didn't impress me a whole lot. I stalled it into relief trying to lift a bag over the fender on one of the trailers. My 110 did just as good (or better).

Yesterday my dealer told me that my 5085M is in manufacturing, which means it should be delivered to my dealer next week!

Can't wait for next week! :D

That's good news! Should be a couple of new, Spring "babies" (with Edward's 6430) real soon!

Be interested to learn your impressions with the loader suspension system, too.

The grapple is 77" wide. I had the W.R. Long RBG-60 on my 4700. It tipped the scale at 567 lbs, so this new one is almost twice as heavy, but the loader can lift 2000 lbs more. I was originally going to get another W.R. Long (RBG-72), but the dealer gave me a price on the Frontier that was only $200 more than the Long, for a significantly stronger unit, and I could finance it at 0% for 60 month with the tractor, so it became a pretty easy decision.

My RBG-60 was a great grapple and I hope the Frontier will be even better. I did read a lot of posts here by Island Tractor about the benefits of a relatively narrow grapple, but I think 77" is going to be ok with my substantially larger 5085M compared with the 4700.

Here's a pic of my 4700 with the Long grapple. A very capable combo.

Scary! That is one of my concerns. I'm going to start out with just the ~400 lbs of wheel weights on the rears and no rimguard in the radials. I'll need to be careful when handling heavy loads, especially if I don't have something hanging off the back. Of course I always lower my loads for transport, but still.

Man, that got to suck! They do this day in and day out. You would think they know the timeline and can give their customers a decent estimate of when things will show up!

Supposedly my M5085 is shipping on Monday from Georgia to Virginia, so in "theory" it should be at my dealer Wednesday or Thursday.

It's at the border now. Trucking company says their "stuck" at the border. The f*ck does that **** mean...

Nothing pisses me off more than a few idiots trying to run a business...

I really like the loader suspension system on my New Holland. I have a Stoll F8 loader on it ( self leveling) and I really like it. I am going to miss it when I sell it which I hope is this year. I'm stepping down to a 4520 as I am down sizing and the NH is just too big and heavy. The NH lives at the farm in TN. The JD is at the dealer and I hope to pick it up in a week. I am considering adding an accumulator to the 400cx. Having a shock absorber on the loader makes it that much more comfortable.

I'm definitely looking forward trying out the loader suspension. Dealer told me that only about 10% of the loaders he sells includes the suspension. While the extra 5-10% cost is substantial, it seems to be a very worthwhile option, both for function, comfort and less stress on the frame.

I got the grapple stood up and free from the pallet. It doesn't stand up on its own like my W.R. Long grapple did, so I used a 4x4 block for now. They do sell an optional parking stand kit. The alternative is to open it up all the way and sit it face down. That will eat up a lot of floor space.

Here's a side shot. This thing is bigger than my 45 3-16 plow!

In other news, I got all the 4x4 support poles in the ground and 2 more loads of crusher run has been put down, leveled and compacted.

Looks good if I had the money I'd put a 673/H340 NSL on my 6430 Premium with loader suspension and use the C250 as ballast :D. No tractor yet monday I guess.. The dealer is so cheap and has so many nice tractors.... 3 7330 Premiums 2 AQ 1 IVT..I wouldn't mind taking one off their lot but someones lacking the cash....

Nice looking grapple. looks like bulkhead tees on the back. They did a nice job routing the hoses and protecting them. Just look at the channel on the back for the supply hoses. Seems like they would have included a parking stand since it wont stand. I would mount some tubes on the cross bars to the outside of the loader mounts with a smaller tube that slides up and down and a pin with a hole drilled for both park and raised positions.

My grapple has a built in stand. Not sure how well it shows in the picture.
Also makes me want to put hose sleeves on my hoses.

Zebra, the built in stands on your grapple is very similar to how my WR Long was.

As for how to add stands to my Frontier grapple, you are exactly right about how to do it. In fact, take a look at this page from the owners manual that shows what you're describing.

I'm going to call my dealer tomorrow to see if he can throw that stand in for free or at the very least, at cost. It's worth a shot anyway. I wouldn't really feel comfortable trying to connect the grapple by driving into it with just that wood block supporting it. If I don't get it just right on the first try, the grapple would likely roll back onto the loader.

Agreed, a stand is a must. Should not be an option. Hope the dealer agrees.

Zebrafive;

I've got a Rake Master grapple, too! Just 66" but it's in the 7-800lb range. Way stout! 1 inch wide shanks and teeth.

I've used it on (SS QA) Bobcat 250 tire and track machines as a root rake, too.

I think that's how wide mine is. Nine lower teeth, 1" thick, uppers are 3/4". Mine is for Skid Steer too. I made bolt on mounts to fit my JD 245 loader. Now I need to make new ones so I can use it on the JD 640 loader. No idea of weight. My guess 900lbs.

It would be recommended to get that parking stand actually you should be forced to have it.. If not its going to stay up do they expect you to put it put it down like a bucket in the fully dumped position? That would be hard to put back on. Pain to look at look at it and think "Shi*... I have to put that back on?

I'm putting together a something something for later. I'll show it later. Here's a sneak peak.

Well the first picture is, not the second one. The second one is how stupid they are not to use it. I thought I was getting free stuff..

Still waiting for the tractor all I'm getting is, "Its a big port, 6 hours of transport, truck company is stuck at the border, problems with paperwork, hopefully here tomorrow, its not here" Enough already get me some real information and stop stalling it :( I need that poor little tractor!:smiley_aafz: That thing better not be stolen in transport. Better not tell me that next. Ordering from the Germany plant is a pain.. Darn little gremlins working at that factory. :( Those truck drivers too!
