Yanmar YM2210
Alright guys, I'm finally posting some pics of my new YM2210 I just bought from Fredricks in AL. They treated me really well, and the tractor runs great. I also threw in a pic of the tractor with our other new addition, the new barn we built early this year. I'll drink to that! :drink:

Wow, that is beautiful! The barn looks terrific too.

I am really interested to hear you review and compare the two machines, maybe with some side by side shots comparing relative sizes, too. It is nice that you will be able to test and compare the same implements in the same place.

Congratulations again on your new machine. I hope it serves you well and reliably, and helps bring happy memories to your family. ( I remember a photograph of a pile of kids in the back of your trailer.)

284 -- Yes, lots of kids in need of a wagon ride!

I will definitely take soem side-by-side pics and post them. I will also give my impressions from the two and their relative merits. One initial thought is that the YM2210 is almost imperceptibly larger than the YM1700. It's a few inches longer, a few inches taller and a few inches wider; but you can't really tell driving it around. The turning radius is almost identical to the YM1700 at about 3 ft... tiny!

I see another difference between the VN tractors like i have and this one. The white on yours is the yanmar off-white or cream, on mine at least and one of the VN inporters its white, rattlecan white. The background behind the decals and the rims.

Also they put brand new regular ag tires on it, what are they R1's" Instead of the older rice tires or R2's? Mine has original brigestone older rice tires on it. Still plenty of tread but not new tires. My fronts are just what they had and are older as well.

So even though you may have paid a bit more than a VN you also have brand new tires as well. Although mine still have 30 years of tread left and even though they have a few cracks are far from the end of servicible life.

very nice tractor & barn:thumbsup:. They have put new tires on all their tractors for some time now. They didn't do this when I bought mine. Just spent a grand for 4 new ones....congrads !

They must be coming over with junk tires!!! The tires on mine basically looked new! Tread had to be 90% of original, and my tires on my pickup have just as many cracks in the sidewalls as my tractor and they cant be over 3 years old(my trucks tires that is).

This must really be hurting their bottom line id imagine as i dont think they went up in price accordingly. If given the option i would rather have the old tires and save $500 on the purchase. I bet they can get the fronts for that tractor for $40 a piece maybe? The rears i think i looked are in the $150ish range?

Don't know what they have to pay for the tractors. When I bought my 3110D 7-8 yrs ago I paid 7 K Without rops & old tires. They didn't have the ROPS out then & they didn't put new tires on. This same tractor (today) with new tires & Rops $8,431.00

I bought a 2210 about 4 years ago from Steve at Spalding tractor and equipment in Griffin GA that came from Fredricks. It has been one of the best purchases I have ever made. I had to replace the water pump last year but that was relatively inexpensive. I did it myself and actually enjoyed the project. I have a 4 foot box blade, mower, and rototiller and it has handled everything my 17 acres can throw at it. You will enjoy the 2210 and its power-shift transmission is great. My neighbor has a YM2000 and he is envious of my powershift.

I have had my tractor 2.5 yrs with old tires. I have not even put air in the back tubes, knock on wood. The fronts, thats another story, i think i have gone through at least 2 tubes and had each patched at least one other time i think. I get briers and spliters of wood in the fronts it seems like every other time i bushhog my fields. I have 2 that were very over grown when i got my tractor and 2 seasons ago i finially put herbicide on the stump sprouts after xhainsawing the 2-6" tree stumps over. Those low stubs and branch remnants are dry and hardended off and seen to always find their way into my front tires. This last weekend was the worst ive had. Well flat was no different i just got it about 2 hours after starting and my local guy that fixes them was not around all weekend so my tractor is still sitting in the yard of my farm house and i got almost no work done with it!!!

Actually, mine arrived with some of both. The side panels and front light bezel were flat white while the front grill and wheels were the Yanmar off-white. I contacted Fredricks -- wasn't sure if this was a mistake -- and asked if they could send me some off-white paint so I could spray these to match, which they did. Interestingly enough, it turns out that my YM1700 has a lot of parts that are interchangeable with the YM2210, including the side panels, front grill and light bezel. Since I had a friend who runs a body shop do a professional paint job last year on these parts on my YM1700 (they needed it!) I am in the process of swapping these to my YM2210. I didn't realize my YM1700 was going to be my parts tractor. :D

Yes, it's real nice they come with new tires now. I understand the price hasn't changed much (if any) in the last 5 years. Not sure how they can do that. Obviously they are making a profit somewhere or they wouldn't do it.

At the risk of making you guys really, really jealous, I may be buying a set of turf tires for my new tractor. I found a brand new set of wheels/tires for a YM2210 available locally for $600. It's a one time good deal. I'm certainly doing my part for the economy this year... :confused2:

For the same reason some of the hoses are painted etc, its way easier to just spray them too than to mask it off. This i have noticed is common on tractor paint jobs.

Are the rear wheels the same bolt pattern as your 1700? The fronts are the same at Hoye, but I couldn't find anything for the rear.

Clemson, have you looked into filling the tires with foam? I've used Slime before, with good luck, on motorcycles, but if you're getting regular punctures, maybe foaming them would be worth it.
