On 03April I emailed Barlow Equip, using their "Contact" link at their website, asking for a price on rear remote kits for my L3430. Today is the 9th; there has been no reply, not even a "get lost" or "We don't give email quotes." Nothing... Is this their usual mode of operation?

I emailed them for a quote last Wednesday the same way and haven't heard a thing. My guess is the website contact info is out of date. I can't believe they would intentionally not reply.

Maybe a lot to go through with Easter.

Don't look for your posting to last long. I posted virtually the same message one time and was promptly informed I was bashing a Dealer.

Pick up the phone. You'll find them very easy to talk to. Email, especially off websites, is often untrustworthy.

No, perhaps as others have stated, a bad link. Call them. Same advice holds true for anyone, just call!

Hello,

To the OP, I replied to your valve pricing request on April 4th at 1:38. Either it went in your spam or trash folder or it is lost in cyberspace.

CAgnoli, I took a couple of days off for spring break and, when I got back, you had already ordered one based on a post on here. So, I did not see a reason to reply. Congrats on the purchase. I typically reply to all emails but am not perfect. Thanks to all for your continued support.

Best,
Brady Barlow

So you emailed them two days before the Easter weekend and now it's Monday and you are upset?

If I emailed a company and didn't get a reply I'm pretty sure I'd email them again or call if they had a phone before I publically questioned their quality of service or commitment. That's just me.:)
I know I'm going to be accused of being biased toward Barlows just because I've bought 13 Kubotas from them and they give me great prices and great service and give me hats when I buy a tractor and they seem like pretty good guys and they spend time talking to customers in person and on the phone and they have a pop machine with cheap priced cold Mr Pibb and they always give me a price on tractors and equipment and parts when I go into their business or call them. But again that's just me. Maybe I should start emailing them and see if they will still be nice to me.:confused3:

I have to agree with john why don't people pick up the phone??? I do 20-30% of my business via computer but always tell people if you need it asap call. If I don't reply in 24hrs I didn't get the message try again.

I never met or talked to the dealer in question as my local dealer is who I deal with don't even have a answering machine never mind email lol treats me well.

I'm in aviation and personal communication is all but GONE. I presume it is the same in a lot of industries. I worked at a company for eight years, and, in that time I was never once called - even after I became a manager. Everything was a text message or email. I've never seen such hostile attitudes, bickering, fear, and negativism generated by a few keystrokes in the name of "efficiency" and "increased communication" by our Dear Leader. The few times people were let go it was done over the phone. I'm 38 and it's all but ingrained in those my age and especially those younger.

End of rant  you gotta pick up the phone or look someone in the eye before you can begin to understand what's going on. I've called Barlow's many times and always had great service. It would give you the opportunity to explain that you've tried the website and never got a response. They'd probably be shocked and apologetic, or at the very least have a believable excuse.

The other thing these electronic venues for communication (email, texting) have done is change our expectations of the timeframe a response should take. Your situation illustrates this clearly. It's only been a couple of days, three of which were considered holiday time. More and more I see reviews of software, products, etc. where the creator/seller/owner gets high marks because they responded in "5 minutes" or something close to immediately.

I purchased a B7610 TLB from Brady Barlow last June via email and texts. Brady emailed and texted pictures during and after business hours, when I was free to write and he was able to reply. We didnt even talk until the unit was being shipped. Brady even called me on my cell on a Sunday to let me know of a driver issue. We even emailed and texted after the sale for a couple of minor things. I'm in the high end corporate IT world and live electronically 9-12 hours a day and understand electronic delays. I still prefer voice whenever possible. If people need immediate response call.

Brady, keep up the great work!

On Facebook we have a local What's for Sale forum. I look at it daily. People usually don't describe item that has bad picture or give a price. They usually say to IM or text them. I'll do the Instant Message with questions or offer to buy but I don't text. I actually have text blocked on my phone. I've offered full price on some items and since I don't text my offer the seller never responds. I IMd one lady with an offer and told her I didn't text, to call me and gave my phone number. She IMd me back and said her phone didn't allow calling, only texting.:confused2::confused2::laughing::confused2::confused2:
I may call Barlows for a parts question but I want to look at/into someones eyes when I'm wanting to make a deal of big bucks. I do order something off the internet at least once a week but I prefer talking to someone if there are questions from either side of the transaction.:)

JohnThomas brought up an interesting point. I have accounts where people are supposed to work when at work. That means no personal cell phone calls or texting. Messaging may be blocked. Another place I have dealt with has no outbound calling for worker bees. I can't remember the exact situation but it was some weird, maybe no direct email. I do know that sometimes I get crabby and only want to see text messages, or sometimes I only want to hear a voice. It depends on how focused the person calling me is. I do have one vendor who is not worth a flip with email. If they do not know the answer they just don't answer. Not particularly helpful. Anyhow it is neat to hear that Barlow's offers exceptional service.

If this comment is directed at Barlows in particular you are up the wrong tree. I purchased a BX from Brady and ALL communication was exemplary and timely -- both email and phone.

I have been using E mail since around the beginning of time. Although it is reliable for the most part, sometimes it fails and we make assumptions about the person we sent it to that are unfounded.

I was frustrated a couple years ago that I was unable to get work related information from my home computer. I finally contacted IT and they asked who my provider at home was and they said they had never heard of it and therefor it was not recognized and went into the "suspected spam" file with no return to my home as undeliverable.

Like many have said, if you do not get a response just make a phone call. Ask to speak to the IT folks. Any company who wants to stay in business will want to know that you had trouble getting in. Often times the counter guy will have no idea your E mail did not go through and is very honest when he says he did not get it on his computer.

That being said, I have not much good to say about my local dealer as they fail to contact me when I stop at the counter and ask a question. They tell me they will get back to me and there is probably a one in four chance they will...

A couple years ago I went to my local dealer to get a price on an implement and they said they would have to "get back to me" with the price. They never did call me back. I stopped a second time and got the same response as the first with no follow through. Some time later, I was at a meeting of local businesses and sat with the company owner. I told him of my experience with his company and he said that was unacceptable that his company did not respond and he would have them contact me. I never received a call. I have never been a jerk to them that I can recall. Maybe I am just small potatoes and not worth the time.

If you own a company, best to get good customer service. The internet will eat you up. I now buy from a dealer who responds to his E mail website and has great follow through. Why should I spend my time and gas to go to my local dealer when someone else a hundred + miles away will treat me better and ship to me with no issue. When gas is 4.25 a gallon and my local dealer is 15 miles away and the company a hundred miles away wants to sell me a part and will ship me a part to my doorstep the same day for $5.00 what is the question and it is a very simple decision.

I totally have to agree 100% with whats said above. I purchased my Grand L 3540 and many attachments from Brady Barlow's and communication was up front and timely. If e-mails do not generate a response, call, we all have had lost e-mails for one reason or another. Brady is the Bomb!
