I need the ability to tilt the rear blade for grading work, etc. I currently have no rear remotes. What would be necessary to add a top-n-tilt system? Is the Kubota kit all inclusive? What are the advantages/disadvantages of the Kubota system versus aftermarket, etc.

Also, if I later want to add a Kubota backhoe, how would the the mods made for the top-n-tilt affect things, if at all.

Thanks

I recommend that you get the factory Kubota rear remotes. You will be hard pressed to get any aftermarket valves to be as nice. I would get all 3 as long as you are doing it. And when you order the OEM valves, remember to get at least one of them with the float position. This can work very well with the side link when finish grading-smoothing.

As far as the Top and Tilt kits, please compare my kit made with 2 1/2" cylinders with 1 1/2" dia rods, all hoses, fittings and flow restrictors needed for installation for $600 + shipping vs what and if your Kubota dealer will sell you a set for.

You can use your remotes to connect to the back hoe if you want, or get it plumbed directly to the hoe.

Good luck with your research. ;)

Thank you for the info. I am confused somewhat about the remotes relative to the backhoe. The dealer indicated that the rear remotes were not necessary for the Kubota hoe as it was all self-contained. That confused me because I would have expected the need for remotes. I am sure it is something obvious that I'm overlooking.

No, you need not be confused, the hoe can be plumbed in without any remotes, but that would be the only thing that the dedicated line would really be for. Or if they are thinking about using a PTO pump and separate reservoir. If you get the remotes, then the whole hydraulic world opens up for you. Since you want rear remotes, I would go that route and hook the back hoe up to the remotes. ;)

I am also interested in getting a top and tilt setup (for my L4740). I need to get rear remotes first and I agree that the factory valves are probably the way to go since there is a nice spot already set up for them.

Something is not clear to me though... If I want to run something that has its own hydraulic valves and is operated while I am not in the seat, like a log splitter or a post driver, for example, do I need a separate remote that doesn't have a valve on the tractor? If so, would I end up with 4 remotes? 3 for each of the factory valves and one additional that is valveless? I've read about "power beyond", but I don't know exactly what that means.

Thanks!!

You can run your log splitter from a std remote. You just bungee the lever into the open position so that there is then constant flow to the off tractor remote. There are also valves that have a detent so that the valve lever stays in the open position just for such applications as you have described.

If you decide to go with the Kubota valves, I think that you can get that type of valve as one of the valves. I suggest that you get all 3 rear remotes, 1 with the float function for the side link, one with the self canceling detents for the top link and 1 with just detents for use with a log splitter.

Good luck with your decisions. ;)
