Hello,

Just got prices from my Kubota dealer on two tractors. What do you think?

BX2360 w/ R4 tires, loader and 60" deck.... $14,202.

B2320HSD w/R4 tires, loader, and 60" deck... $16,395.

I'm trying to convince myself the B2320 is worth the extra coin. I already have a Kubota L3830DT with loader so it's a tough sell.... Machine will be used for mowing and around the house landscaping. And possibly working in the woods.

For working in the woods, I'd go with a B no question about it. You'll appreciate the extra ground clearance among other things. Consider the B2620 and B2920 as well.

If it was only mowing and landscaping, the BX would be the better choice.

Thank you for the feedback!

For mowing use (lawn type areas / Mid mount mower) the BX would probably be the better choice as it's lighter on the lawn and more maneuverable. For the woods you want the B because of ground clearance and better protection from branches etc (the Bx has an exposed HST fan that you would need to cover and protect).

I've got a B and couldn't imagine mowing my lawn with it (lots of landscaping and other obstacles requiring tight turns). I use a smaller old JD tractor for lawn mowing.

Well, that's the way the dealer steered me when I went shopping, and it made sense when you consider what you get for just a little more money. I think the main benefit of the 2320 is slightly smaller size.

I can sure see your conundrum as either will be a compromise to one extent or the other.

You can use a BX in the woods, I have used both of mine, a BX2200 and now a BX2660 and still use the BX2660 occasionally, but they are far from ideal. You have to pay very close attention and even doing that, my tie rod boots got torn off and the tie rods replaced.

They are very strong and will do a surprising amount of work.

If I was giving advice to someone without another tractor, I would recommend a B23/26/2920 and came very close to buying a B2920 myself. Like you, however, I have other tractors and decided the added maneuverability, less turf damage, lighter weight etc. made the BX2660 a better buy regardless of cost.

I know I am swimming upstream here, but no regrets in four years of use. I do have a Bro Tek front and rears plate as well as tie rod protectors now.

Thanks for the feed back! Is the BX really that much more nimble compares to the B? They are very similar in size... Just different ground clearance. I guess I need to drive both. I've driven a BX but not B.

The BX is quite a bit smaller, more along the lines of a hopped-up garden tractor in size.

It was significant enough for our trimming needs and I read a lot of reports of turf damage from B Series owners when turning full lock and especially in 4WD.

Since we started mowing with the BX, we have not used a push mower for trimming.

If you are 6' tall and walk through a 5'11 1/2" door, a "little" can mean a "lot".

Probably the only reason to consider the B2620 or B2920 over the B2320 is just more power. You can see the specs on the kubota website, there are some differences, but nothing major other than engine HP. You probably only really care about the HP if you're doing PTO work (which is why I opted for the B2920 to run a chipper). The b2920 at least has way more power than it has weight and traction, so at some point in the line the HP only becomes useful for PTO tasks.

What is $2000 or $33 a month if you finance worth to YOU? The BXs are the "BETTER" mower between the two for nimbleness. I would be/am a bit skittish when I take my BX into the woods which I wouldn't do if I had a FEL on my B2320. If you can do woods jobs with your other tractor then BX. If your going to be in the woods alot with your new small tractor then maybe the B. You can buy/make plates to cover underside of BX for some bucks or keep the mower on it all the time which I did with my first BX2200. I got it hung up on a pile of trees one time but you can get it off with your big tractor if you do.:) But, there is one thing you can't do for a BX and that's give it more ground clearance which is the good/bad thing about the BX.
Having another tractor available makes choices different than for the single tractor owner as TripleR has told you.
Go sit on them/drive them and then you'll know.

Thanks for the info! I'm 6'4" and the B is more comfortable for me. It just feels better all the way around.

The only concern I have with the B is mowing with it. And that will be it's primary job along with yard maint, etc. I will not mow in 4x4 so that's not an issue. Dealer said the B would mow fine.

My gut tell's me to stick with the B... I like the bigger tires, high clearance, bigger loader, slower running engine, 3 ranges, etc.

Decisions decisions!

I had the same decision last fall. I use mine for 60% mowing, some snow clearing (not this year) and some work in the woods. I will also be picking up a 4' brush hog to maintain my back field. I wanted the clearance but was also concerned about mowing. I'm here to tell you that I am very happy with my choice. My tractor does an outstanding job of mowing and it is a pure joy to drive. I have R4 tires. You have to be a bit careful when the ground is soft and avoid really tight turns but I have become used to this and I have no issues mowing with this machine. It's nimble enough to navigate tight areas and large enough to make a small job of mowing the 2+ acres of mowable grass on our lot. I also have a few other acres of woods and tall grass.

My choice? The B2620... Chosen over a BX2660 and a B2320. I opted for the 2620 vs the 2320 mainly because of opinion on this board that the 2620 seems to be the sweet spot of the B lineup... And the cost differential was not that great.

I have an LA364, 60" MMM and a ballast box.

Thank you very much for the info! You've really help answer my questions regarding mower performance.

I'm curious about the 2320 vs 2620. The only difference is HP correct? Physical size, etc is all the same... right?

You can see all the specs on kubota.com under products --> tractors --> b2320/2620/2920 --> specifications. Looking at the spec sheet I see these differences: Motors, transmission case capacity, bigger ones are not available in Gear (HST only), tire size is slightly smaller on the b2320, speeds are a little different for the HST on the b2320, B2320 is ~2" shorter overall and 4" narrower, B2320 has .8" less ground clearance, B2320 is 100 lbs lighter.

Most notably however the loader is different LA364 on the B2620 and B2920 VS LA304 on the B2320. The LA364 is a bit heavier duty with better capacities, but i think you can order it on the B2320 as well. All can be equipped with the BH65 backhoe. Hope that helps.

Differences that I know of are:

Engine size
Slightly different tranny
Tires front 6-12 vs 7-12
Tires rear 9.5-16 vs 11.2-16
Slight difference in traveling speeds
Length 93.9 vs 95.1
Width 45.1 vs 49
Ground clearance 12.0 vs 12.8
Tread slightly larger on 2620
Weight 1477 vs 1554

Someone correct me if wrong. The specs are on a PDF on the web site for greater detail... GOOD LUCK!

Is it possible all the dimensions are slightly different because tire size is different?
