I am having some trouble with my RTV900 with plow. The lift doesn't work. :-(

How much voltage goes through the connection. If I put a meter on it, then toggle the switch, should it be -12 and then +12? (Or there abouts?)

How would you bench test the lift actuator?

Thanks,
Neil.

Make sure you didn't blow the fuse...I did that last year.

Thanks, Tim,
Fuse was good, but the wires at the relay were corroded, so my neighbor and I stripped and put on new connections.

Seems fine for now.

Have a good one!

Glad to hear that...Plow on!!

I only asked about the fuse because I blew mine due to over-running the lift on the actuator...I really whish the lift was hydro instead of electric...Oh well, can't have everything I guess.

There is a hydro conversion for the lift of the plow. I just converted mine for about $450. I have a list of items for the conversion that I got off of this site from another member if you would like it.

I would be intersted in seeing that..Thanks

Timswi,
This is the parts list I got from another member. I think his name was Robuta

Surplus Center - Hydraulics, Engines, Electrical and More

parts needed

Quanity 1 9-1782 is the selector valve

Quanity 1 9-7257-4 is the hydraulic cylinder

Quanity 8 9-69-01-6-4 sae 6m x 1/4 nptf 90 swivel connectors

Quanity 2 916-1436 1/4 by 36" hoses nptf male

Hydraulic Cylinder Components, Products

The selector valve was not available from the surplus center so I got it at baileynet.com. The bailey part number was 280-166 and it was a Parker valve. I got by with just 6-90 degree swivels but that's up to you.

Thanks Randy...I'll peruse that.

RANDU WAS WANDERING IF YOU HAVE ANY PIC'S of this conversion, I to would be interested.

Redharley,
I don't, but I can take them tomorrow if you like. It's not that big of a conversion.

Red Harley,
Sorry for the delay on the pictures but I forgot. Here they are. I used a doorbell button mounted to the hydraulic lever to switch the flow from angle to up/down function.

I'm trying to get my head around your set up...I like what i see so far.

Timswi.
Basically i just replaced the manifold that came with the Curtis plow with an 12 volt electric solenoid manifold that when I push the doorbell button it lets me angle the plow otherwise the lever operates the up/down function of the plow. This works much faster than the electric lift that came with the plow.

Curious - with this set up, do you need to worry about down pressure or does the plow 'float' in the down position? I've been thinking of doing this mod but concerned about about the additional wear on the plow board and the driveway.

Stuckinnj,
The plow floats since the hydraulic cylinder only controls the lift chain so there is no down pressure on the plow except for it own weight. If I could use the cylinder for down pressure I would have a bulldozer but thats not possible with this setup.

Thanks for getting back with those pic's, I am interested for sure.will see if I can locate some parts. If you have a link to pic's some where else that would be useful as those are small and I can't seemed to make them any larger. If not no problem if I study them enough I can get the idea' Thanks again
