I have a 4720 CAB tractor. Does anybody have experience removing the loader? It looks like it may come close to the glass but have not attempted removal yet. Looking for any experience with this...

Do you not have the FEL manual?

If not, this link might help.

Thanks beenthere,

But I know HOW to take the loader off as I have had several JD CUT's and I was asking if anyone with a CAB had done the removal. It looks like the loader arm may come very close to the glass in front and I dont want to break it...

I see.
Go slow, but doubt very much it will touch the glass. Be sure are in neutral so the tractor coasts back (or if me, I'd have in gear and reverse as the arms release/unlatch and begin to raise.

My dad is really paranoid about removing his. So I end up doing it. Only problem we are 2 hrs apart. It is really easy, and yes it does appear too close to the glass. Since you have removed other jd loaders you know the basics. Level ground and a steady hand. When putting it back on I keep a little extra distance from the arms. Lower them to the right level, then drive forward into them. On my 430 loader it is always easy to misjudge and end up having to back up to line the mounts up. Gotta do it the opposite with glass being there. Btw I like the way the 400 mounts. Seems much sturdier than mine.

I have the 300 loader on my 3720 cab, and had no difficulty with remounting the loader arms. Yes, it looks like it's coming close to the glass, and I had minor trepidations the very first time. But when the correct procedure is followed - it's actually a piece of cake. Presumably you've got the appropriate operator manuals.

Mine also has rubber bumpers at the bottom of each front cab corner. Unless your approach is significantly off center - if you're gonna hit something -it will likely be the rubber first. The reasons I don't find the task daunting is because (a) the loader mounts are clearly visible through the glass, and (b) the attachment end of the loader arms have a curved cover. If you position yourself so that the loader mounts are directly beneath the attachment ends - but not yet touching the glass - it's a simply matter of using the joy stick to lower the arm to the mount. Once they mate, simply exit the cab and set the locking mechanisms

My $0.02
The biggest issue is the fact that you have to feather the dump with the 400cx at the same time. Since the self leveling mech isn't selective, you have to be careful when you unload it. I found a bucket full of rock helps keep it flat and steady. I don't have a cab, but the self-leveling mech made it bothersome with the OS platform.

I like that "rocks in the bucket" idea.

My tractor isn't cabbed, but I'd be more cconcerned about putting the loader back on.

The dealer/salesman walked me through it (removal) at the dealership before I took deliverly. I must admit I hate the set-up. Too close to the glass! IMO it's not a good design, 300cx 400x or 400cx.

Not looking forward to removing mine.
