So I got a 5085M on the way with the triple deluxe rear remotes, each of which will be controlled via the 3 levers within the red circle:

5085mrightcontrols-2.jpg

That will work great for various implements that I have, especially my 3-way hydraulic blade.

But I want to add a hydraulic top-link. Ideally, I'd like it to be EH like my hitch. So an OEM toggle switch in the blank shown in the yellow circle would be perfect for this. That would allow me to use the 3 regular levers for any normal implement hydraulic activity, and have permanent separate means of operating my top-link. That way I'll never be confused about which lever does to top link, as it will always be the toggle switch. The only time I would need to be remove the top-link and associated hoses would be when running my post hole auger.

Anyone done this, and if so, how/where did you tap into the hydraulics to pull it off?

Is your loader already 3 function? If not the third function kit (pricey, is a complete new loader valve) can route from mid body to the back pretty easily.

As a matter of fact it is! I'd just need to add hoses that are long enough to go from the top link to the 3rd mid valve. If I have quick disconnects on both ends, I can easily connect my grapple when needed, and also remove my top link for doing auger work.

Excellent suggestion!

It is a good idea... but (there's always a but) did you get the "mono-block" quick attach for the hydraulic couplers on the loader?

It looks like this:

If so; using quick disconnects will be a more "complicated" system - not so straight forward!

Certainly can be done but there's gonna be some plumbing required...

Yes, I believe that is what I got. It is option code 4556 "3-Function Single Point Hydraulic Connection". Here's another couple of pics from the H series brochure:

singlepoint.jpg

It looks a little different than the pic you posted. I think the brochure pic is from a much bigger loader/tractor. It is turned sideways compared to your picture. Which tractor/loader is that?

I guess once I get my tractor, I'll be able to take a closer look to determine what my options are.

That's a picture of my 5075M. Your brochure pics are basically the same option that I have on my 563SL loader. The 3rd function SCV is also a single point connection at the bucket as well. Locking lever, etc.

The brochure pics look like a 6000 maybe a 7000 machine.

Excellent. I need to get me some of those color coded zip ties so that I can consistently hook up my rear implements to the same SCVs!

Like this right?

So my quick connects plug into the "block" and the "block" is the added/removed via that single lever, correct?

Yes and no... You could use quick disconnects on the block or you could plumb the hydraulic lines to the block and the block would stay with the grapple.

Since I have SS quick disconnects on my grapple - I did what you're suggesting - mounted the SS quick disconnects on the block. The block stays "locked" on the female mount (lever) on the loader whenever I think I might use the grapple.

I remove the SS coupler block most of the time as it is pretty vulnerable to damage.

John Deere used to call this a MultiCoupler. I think made by Faster. I wish my 640 loader had one instead of six separate couplers, but too pricey to retro fit.

The third function hoses are marked green and yellow. They are in the middle of the multicoupler. I would swap hoses to get them to the outside of the multicoupler. Then below the the multicoupler (between valve and tractor half of multicoupler) I would install a pair of quick couplers (in the third function hoses). When you want to use the third function at the rear, disconnect and connect hoses from the rear to the hoses from the third function valve.

You can get colored tie wraps from Grainger.

I think that Zebra meant "fourth function"... as in: Then below the the multicoupler (between valve and tractor half of multicoupler) I would install a pair of quick couplers (in the third function hoses). When you want to use the FOURTH function at the rear, disconnect and connect hoses from the rear to the hoses for the third function valve.

That would work. And you would use the rocker switch on the joystick to use the fourth rear hydraulic cylinder.

Of course, you would not have the option of "switching" between the front 3rd SCV function to the rear 4th SCV function with an EH funtionality. That would have to be a "manual" function - connecting and disconnecting the QD's.

Another approach might be to install the Power Beyond Circuit at the rear of the tractor and plumb in an electric diverter (EH circuit) that could be controlled via a rocker switch on the right hand console. You would have QD's at the PBC and could connect the hyd top link into the Power Beyond Circuit.

If you use the power beyond circuit you will need an electric double acting valve, not diverter valve....

Just wanted to clarify.

It will have to allow continous flow back to the sump - open center - as well as diverting flow for double acting cylinder use.

Yep...

I took a look at the power beyond kit, and it looks like it connects directly to the block feeding the rear SCVs as seen in this pic:

powerb1.jpg

And the parts that make up the kit:

powerb2.jpg

Perhaps if I ordered just the bracket itself and then the following items from Surplus Center?

Note how this model has the work ports blocked in neutral, which I believe is what I want to make the top link hold its position, right?

powerb3.jpg

And a 1 station series subplate (item 9-5883-1):

powerb4.jpg

Would those be the pieces I'd need?

It would be way cool if I could find someone to machine me a subplate that would bolt right up against the oem 3 SCV block and the solenoid valve.

looks like a great choice and idea pclausen!

The GPM might not be high enough... but looks good in theory. Good research. Curious about the tractor PBC. How does the backhoe, etc. connect? No QD's?

Part numbers 3 and 9 look like quick couplers

I meant use the mid valve's 3rd function at the rear, but I see what you mean, at the rear it would be considered a 4th function.

Could a diverter be installed in the mid valve's 3rd function lines to the multicouper than routed to the rear for a forth function? Lot more costly than swapping between quick couplers, but more convient.

Yes, parts 3 and 9 are the quick couplers, but I think all I would want would be the bracket and then mount 2 female couplers in it as I don't want a PB loop, just something to give me a 4th rear SCV. Leveraging the mid 3rd SCV for this does seem like a great idea.

So these appears to be the options (from least to most expensive):

1. Install a pair of hoses that plug into the 3rd mid SCV outs on the front, and are permanently mounted on the back to the PB bracket.

2. Install EH diverter valve on 3rd mid SCV and switch in cab, otherwise same as option 1.

3. Install EH double acting valve and plumb into rear SCV block somehow, making sure to not compromise flow (18.4 GPM?), and utilize PB bracket. This might be tricky if tapping fluid from rear SCV block.

2 might be just as expensive as 3 I suspect, but maybe not.
