Hey all. I'm looking at a used 2007 4105 in a few days. Does anyone know if the '07s are appreciably different from the brand new ones? Do they all have quick detach buckets? Thanks!

No real notable changes that I know of - just the hour meter:laughing:

All should come with the DEERE quick attach bucket - not a skid steer quick attach. It's the difference of the Deere being pins vs levers. There aren't as many attachments for it but it is better than nothing. They will change about equally as fast though.

Interesting... does that mean I'd be limited as to the grapples I could put on the tractor?

Thanks!

It does. There will not be nearly as many options, or you will be doing some fabricating. I believe the 4105 runs the 300x loader, not the 400 series loader as well. On the 400 series you have the option for a skid steer quick attach.

I went and looked at the tractor today. It's for sale by a guy who buys and sells used equipment. It's a 2007 with only 120 hours. It was owned by an orthopedic surgeon with a hobby farm, and was stored in a barn. He traded it in to the seller for a larger Kubota with a cab.

Apart from some dirt, it almost looks new. The upper lip of the bucket has a small dent that I don't think is compromising its strength significantly (maybe 3 inches wide, one-half to one inch deep at most- not visible in the picture.

One other small(?) issue. If you look at the picture of the 3ph, in the middle of the yellow circle is a piece of wood that's being used as a temporary plug. The previous owner said he had no idea when or how the plug fell out, but he had ordered a new one and had it mailed to the seller, who hasn't replaced it yet. Does anyone know what that plug is for and if it could have harmed anything?

The tractor fired right up, drove fine, loader worked well, loader arms look strait, etc. I'm a tractor novice but saw no obvious problems. I think the price is very good, and it includes an older but working 5ft Bush Hog brand cutter. Any comments, especially on the plug issue?

Thanks.

Looks like a pretty good machine to me. I would have them fix that one plug - I don't really know what it would be stopping, but would get it fixed. 120 hours is like new too. I'd make him an offer an see where it goes:thumbsup:

The seller has the plug and intends to fix it, although I think the fix is just pulling the wood out and putting the plug in! Hopefully I can get a good deal on it. From what I can find it seems good. Not a whole lot of chattering about this model.

The seller told me when the PTO was running the hole would seep a little oil. It did not do this today with the makeshift plug in place, although we didn't run it more than a couple minutes with the PTO on. Seller seems like an honest guy, he pointed the missing plug out to me right away. I probably would not have noticed it.

That may be an oil plug for the PTO shaft then. May want to check the fluid levels in it.

Tractor looks to be in nice condition but I wouldn't pay much for that bushhog, I would much rather have a better model. Looks pretty flimsy.

Yeah, the bush hog is an afterthought. It's included in the price of the tractor. I plan on getting a 6ft anyway as I'm only cutting grass/weeds.

I do think the tractor must be a 2008 thought. JDs website says they started making them in 2008. Maybe the guy bought it in late 2007?

Great tractor.

2011 units have a one piece hood making the need for a flip down style hood guard a requirement. Earlier units had multi-piece hood and the hood guard did not swivel down.

I settled on a good price for the tractor. It is going to a JD dealer today for a basic pre-purchase inspection. If all goes well I should have it here today or tomorrow.

Hope all goes well! Pretty good tractors from all I've heard:thumbsup:

I put a grill from 3720 on my 2011 4105.
It bolted right up had to weld new stop.
Great tractor

It checked out fine except for a problem with the tachometer. It didn't work yesterday right away, then seemed fine. The dealer noticed too so they are going to diagnose it tomorrow. Hopefully something simple. The missing plug was a nonissue and is fixed.

Good news. A tachometer with that new/low hour of a tractor won't be much of an issue. All it does is read the hours so I'd be more concerned on a 20 year old machine wondering if it had 1,000 or 10,000 hours, that low though I don't see that as a worry. Hopefully you can get something done soon!
