Ok...as promised pictures of the hitch setup. The new machine is awesome...I can't wait to do some work with it.

Too late now, I guess. But, I found a bolt on 2" receiver adapter that fit right on the back of my 425. No welding required. I simply had to drill a second hole. I got it at harbor freight. It is down low. But, that's easily fixed with an offset ball adapter.

I would be careful using that hitch as it puts the ball rearward a long ways from the rear axle. Really think you would be better off with the hitch ball much closer in to the machine.

If you are using this to move and park trailers, moving just a short distance the front weight bracket has a 1 1/4" receiver built in. This will handle more weight than you can deal with on the rear ball as you have it configured now.

Go slow while backing a trailer for the first time as the 4ws will over steer a trailer very quickly. The 4ws also has the effect of not making much difference which end is hooked to a trailer, reacts the same either end.

Thanks Steve - I've logged many hours on my old 425 AWS I just traded in so am definitely used to the dynamics when backing or pulling a trailer with it. I do agree with you on the hitch set up...I'll probably use the front receiver mount to move the big trailer. The hitch on the 425 had a pretty long moment arm too and it didn't really have any trouble with the big trailer but I generally had the JBSr. mounted to the front when doing so. The new machine is a beast compared to the 425!

What about something like this for lighter loads? $9.99 at HF.

That's similar to what I used. Only mine is about twice as long and attaches with two huge bolts.

I too would be concerned about how far back the ball is from the axle.

I too just upgraded from a 425 to a x700. On my 425 I would move my 1000# 16ft utility trailer from the back of the shed to the driveway. With my 3pt hitch I could feel front end losing grip. I don't have any front weights, yet.

I ended up welding a 2" receiver tube about 12" off ground on my 425. I did this for a Kolpin dirt works 3pt electric hitch. I will do the same on the 700 but make it a bolt instead of welding to frame for easy removal if needed.

I like the Kolpin 3pt because I can remove the 3pt hitch for mowing when not needed so not sticking out back of tractor, but when I need a rear blade I have it.

If I knew for sure I had other uses for the 3-point I might be able to justify it but for now I'll just go the simple route.

A box blade comes to mind right off.

Do you happen to know the HF part #? I couldn't find it.
