Hey guys i'm new to this fourm, and in the process of buying a new tractor. I've been looking at the gr2110, I know the gr2100 had problems, but apparently they have been fixed. Is it a good tractor? Thanks

Have you considered a ZTR(Zero turn radius) mower? Looked up the cost of these on tractor house and you can get a ZTR for the same price, may not be a Kubota but more of an off brand if that means anything to you. Personally do not feel the need for a diesel lawn mower. I'd spend the money in diesel on a nice ZTR save yourself a lot of time and money. Especially with diesel prices be obnoxiously high these days.

Just some food for thought.

I really no nothing about the GR2110 besides that though:confused:

All of the lawn I mow are extremely steep, and I want to use it for snow removal with a snow blower

Again, don't listen to any advise I'll give you on the GR2120 because I really know nothing about them other than what the Kubota website says... that I just looked up:laughing:. But if your lawn is really steep and need a snow blower I would still consider a ZTR and get a walk behind snowblower. I have a lawn tractor that I bought nearly 10 years ago and coming up to an upgrade, I will definitely be getting a ZTR next time around. The ZTR's are very low to the ground and have a nice wide wheelbase though so they don't tip and most now have a ROPS. I would feel much safer with a ROPS on hilly land mowing, wouldn't do without it. It only takes one time mowing a lawn w/o a ROPS and roll to be missing part of a hand, arm, leg or worse. That's just my opinion but if your land is excessively steep I would have a ROPS, even if you go up to a BX series, but I couldn't be out there. I've mowed my lawn with the same tractor for 10 years and theres one steep area and it gives me the same butterflies every time that if this thing goes over who knows what could happen with those blades spinning. With a ROPS and a seat belt at least you know the only damage is going to happen to your tractor and not you:thumbsup:

Don't let it discourage you from the GR but just food for thought. I know I wouldn't be out there.

BIL bought a ZTR for his mountain property, what a mistake that was. My
neighbor mows full time, we asked him if he clean up our yard last Fall,
he said nope too many slopes.

I've seen the GR series diesel demo'd on a bank that you could barely walk up
or down and this guy drives straight down and then turns half way down and
drives back up. I almost closed my eyes because I just knew it was going to
turn over, stuck like glue, right back up the bank it went.

If it is steep and you need a blower, go look at the BX series also for a little more money you get a lot more tractor.

A SUB CCOMPACT BX or a JD 2305 for about the same or less money is usually in most cases the better buy over a Garden Tractor Kubota GR2100 or JD x7xx.

Comparing new to new - definitely true, although the Kubota GR series is less expensive new than the JD x700 series. However when you're talking about used, the 2305 JD and Kubota BX series hold their value better than the high-end garden tractors. Sometimes you can get a great deal on a high-end garden tractor with low hours and they're actually a good value.

1*True but i could have bought a new BX 1850 Sub Compact for not to much more than the Kubota high end garden tractor .
2*True enough .
3*Yes that is possible but it didn't happen when I was shopping .

I bought this used 2003 BX1500 for &4525 without the front blade and tiller .
At the time older used JD 455s with more hours were in the $4000 to $6000 range but after looking for nearly 2 years I could not find one in my area.
To date I still have less than 400 hours on it

At the same time I purchased this new BX1500 for $6300with out the MMM.
This compared to about $10500 more or less for a new JDx700.
I now have 197 hours on it.

I have priced both, there is a big difference if shopping new from list.

GR2110, 48" mmm, snow blower, $11223.

BX1860, 48" mmm, mid pto kit, snow blower, fel valve/stick, quick hitch, $14606.

The BX is about 30% and $3383 more than the GR. I know the BX is a heavier built tractor than the GR, but I do not need that, just want something to replace my JDLX188 with to mow and move snow. 4WD on either will be a bonus.

I will say this the GR series is no more Garden Tractor than a BX is Row Crop tractor. There's no way the hitch much of anything but a bagger, a scrap blade and a snow blower on it. It is a fine Lawn Tractor, I've test driven a couple, they're not in the same league as an X700, more inline with an X500 as far as attachments and weight, although the X500 series takes more attachments. The mechanics of the GR series a somewhat of a marvel when comes to the way it disengages the inside rear wheel in turns, that's how it's able turn the way it does.

You found a good deal, but a 2003 GR series would have been available for less. Generally speaking a BX series Kubota or a 2000 series John Deere holds its value better (as a percentage of initial purchase price) than the Kubota GR series or the John Deere x700 series.

My local dealer has the X720 with a 54" deck $9200. We were just in there a few weeks ago.

We priced the GR2110 with 54" deck and it $7800 about 3 years ago.

If you are comparing the GR2110 to an LX188 you will be extremely pleased with the Kubota GR2110. Another thought for your consideration is to look for a BX with less than 100 hours - bet you can find one with a snowblower for less than the price you mentioned for the GR2110. Brady Barlow has a good inventory, sells to people all over, and has a lot of satisfied customers that frequent this site. Just a thought. Good luck with your shopping.

I considered a GR and ended up with a BX. More money for sure, but I really wanted the loader which of course isn't available on the GR. Either way, you'll really like the 4wd on hilly terrain.
