I have an HSTB2320 and it comes in at minimum HP suggested for RTR 1050 tiller, delaer suggested RTR0550, but the 1050 has better warranty and is 125+ lbs heavier. Will that tiller perform with tractor for a considerable amount of use is planned.

I run an RTR0550 on my BX2660 and can't imagine any problems with the RTR1050 on your tractor.

I think the RTR 0550 weighs about 298# the RTR 1050 weighs about 430#. I have a Howse RTC54 that the shipping weight is listed as 744#. I don't know what the actual weight is but it is a lot heavier than what you are talking about. We have a BX23 and I have to put weight in the loader bucket to balance it out. When I was looking for a tiller I wanted reverse rotating tines. The Howse is actually switchable. It was forward turning when I got it and it worked real well. I switched it so that it is now reverse rotating and once the soil is loose after the first pass my R-4 tires have a hard time getting enough traction even in 4wd. Next summer I am going to work with it some more and if I can't figure it out I will switch it back to forward turning. The tractor has more than enough power to spin and lift the tiller. I have not heard of anyone having trouble with this size of RTR landpride tillers. The reason I jumped in to this thread even though I don't have a Landpride tiller is to let you know that I think your tractor has plenty of power to do the job.

I have the RTR0550 and have not had any problems with it... The one LP dealer I talked to tried to up sell me on to 1050 but I had done my research thanks to (TBN users) The RTR0550 is a good weight for the B2320.. I will add this though if you go with the 1050 get front ballast... you will need it!! the front of my 2320 is light with the 0550 on the back...

good luck either way...

I am running the 0550 on my BX24 and it is an awesome tiller. I have used it to remove 1/4 acre of sod, Have done the 1/2 church garden twice. My only real complaint is that even at it's "deepest setting" it could get more depth when you are trying to ground in some mulch. But the reverse tines are about all my tractor could handle in 4x4 low....can't imagine a heavier/bigger tiller on the back of the 24, but it would probably handle it.

I have the RTR0550 on my B2620, and it does a great job. I thought that the 1050 would be what I wanted, but after reading the specs, I would not have gotten anything worth the extra money by getting it over the rtr0550. Depth is the same. Number of tines is the same. The weight isn't an issue, because reverse tine tillers pull themselves into the dirt. The only advantage is side shifting.
Unless you absolutely want to spend the money, the RTR0550 is a good tiller, and you won't be going wrong.
