I have a post below about buying a Dodge Diesel. I bought one today. Its a 2004, Quad Cab, 3/4 ton, short bed, 24 valve 5.9l diesel. It has about 105,000 miles on it, silver in color, 4.10 rear end. I've only put a few miles on it but the computer is showing around 20mpg. It has exhaust on it and and edge chip on it. I'll have to read about the edge chips since I don't know much about them. We have a busy weekend planned so I'll try and post some pics next week.

I have the same truck but don't have the 4.10's. I do a bit too
much freeway driving for those.
I also have the Edge Juice with Attitude. If i turn my box all the way up it makes some impressive horsepower but makes my clutch slip a bit.

I went with a Luk ceramic clutch in my diesel F250.

I just picked up a 91 Dodge w250 project for my son. It has the CTD.

Very nice! I would love to have a 2004-2007 5.9l Cummins RAM.

4.10 rear end and 20 mpg.
If that is true when hand calculated then it's very impressive!

I traded in a GMC 1/2 ton 4x4 regular cab 3.73 gears and I usually average about 13mpg going back and forth to work. When I test drove the Dodge yesterday, I reset the trip computer and got 22 mpg driving the same route. When I went back to buy the truck with my wife, we were in a hurry going back home since we had my daughters swim meet to go to and I drove it pretty hard and the computer still showed 20.0 when I got home.

The Edge chip has a date of early 2005 on it and there is no way to change anything on it. It just plugs in and does its thing. It has a pinstripe on it that is strands of barb wire instead of regular pin stripe. I plan on removing that. It also has a sticker on the tailgate that says "DODGE MAKES IT, CUMMINS SHAKES IT". I think that will have to come off also.

Best of luck with your new ride!!

Very awesome, welcome to the Cummins family.

I'm going to bet removing that pinstripe is going to leave a ghost image in the paint.

Congrats on the new truck, you will love it. I have an 07 5.9 and still love driving it.

I have an 07 with the 6.7 and love it. Congrats! That's low mileage for its age and the 4.10s make it a pulling beast, I bet.

Don't hook this to trailer that feels like it doesn't want to move. The trailer will lose!

Nice Rig wish I had one to tow my tractor!

Good for you!!
Bought a new Dodge W250 CTD in 1990, engine still running great.
Keep that EDGE on the Economy mode if it痴 a manual otherwise you'll be Putting a clutch in soon.

I spent a couple of hours tonight peeling the pin stripes off. Who ever said they would leave a ghost image is sort of correct. On both the top and bottom of where the stipe came off, there is a ridge left behind. I can't tell if its glue, or a ridge in the clear. Between my finger nail and some pretty coarse buffing compound on my dual action buffer, its coming off, but taking some time.

So far I'm averaging about 20 mpg, which is amazing. I did a little research and read the sticker on the side of the engine, and its a 305hp engine. It also has a Air Raid intake system. The box almost looks stock, but the tube after the box also has Air Raid written on it so I assume its part of a system.

Would a K&N cleaning kit work for the Air Raid filter? They look like an oiled filter.

Try the Smooth Surface Clay Kit from Meguiars. It works really well and won't harm the paint. I had a dealer get paint over spray on my truck while it was being serviced. It took the over spray and everything else off so well I did the entire truck with it. MeguiarsDirect.com: Smooth Surface® Clay Kit

Hope you have as much good luck with your 04 as I have had with mine.Just turned 300k, only major repair has been a a tranny rebuild. Considering that the first 290k were pulling a 40' G/N in a hotshot business, thats not bad. Mine has the 3.73 gears with 6spd and average high teens into the 20's on mpg(truck w/o trailer).

You have the 2003 H.O. engine which is rated at 305hp/555lb.ft, they made a 2004.5 model with a revised engine making 325hp/600lb.ft appropriately named the "600".

With the programmer and intake, your probably making the same or more as the revised engine anyways.

Now everyone needs to stop posting these 20 mpg figures before I go trade my 16 mpg 1/2 ton HEMI for a 3/4 ton oil burner.
