Getting ready for this and was thumbing through the manual, it shows 11 gallons of hydraulic fluid? Is this right? I have the hst 335 and need to know if during the draining am I draining all 11 gallons? Stuff is like 35 per 2.5 gallon jug.

Same on the front axle, 8 quarts gear lube? Again am I draining 8 qts?

Thanks

Wow. 700 for them to do the service doesn't sound bad now. It will be close to 400 in filters and fluids.....man with all the talk here regarding the expense I thought materials would be less.

Anyway thanks for the confirmation.

I think it cost me about $350 in oil/filters. You could save some $$$ by not using the BC fluid. OK, time for everyone to chime in on the generic/OEM oil debate.

I think if I had to do it over again I would have got the generic oil...even while under warranty.

There are several discussions on this forum about fluids, I personally went with Conoco powertran. I want to say it is about $45 per 5 gal. You might try searching to dig up some of the old threads.

How much for a 50 hour service? I have a JD 3320e with 47 hours and I can expect what kind of bill at a dealer's place?

You likely already know this, but I'll mention it anyway. Don't forget to drain hydraulic oil from the plugs on the final drives in addition to the main plug. The Kioti manual does not show those plugs and some have missed it. Perhaps Bobcat manuals mention these plugs.

They do in fact mention those plugs and show them but thanks anyhow.

Another question what do you drain 11 gallons into? Or do you stop after several quarts and empty then repeat?

I was told it was a waste of money to change the hydro fluid and just did the filters I think it was about a $100 for everything for the 50 hr service.

I made sure my oil drain pan was 100% clean and that the drain plug area was 100% as well. Now I use the drained 50hr fluid as a topper fluid. I didn't have the heart (or the wallet) to throw away what looked like perfectly good and clean oil. I had no particles on my magnets either.

then your manufacturers warranty may not be worth the paper it is written on......

:confused2:

I also was told by the dealer that changing the Hydraulic oil was not necessary and a waste of money by the dealer. I still changed it because of the warranty.
I only bought the Kioti hydraulic filter, the oil filter was wix. As long as the oil has the rating required in the manual it will not void the warranty. I think that is a law so the manufactures cannot force you to use their branded oil. Remember they do not refine it they just have their label put on someone elses oil.

Well the dealer and mechanic told me not to worry as well as the manual that came with my tractor. The original filers have magnets in the filter. So not sure why my warranty would be void? :confused2:

We cut off a plastic drum, drove up on blocks, skin barrel under, drained teams, then final drives. Slid barrel out back, then filled with fresh fluid.

I just double checked and is does say to change it in the manual. I think I will take my chances with just the filters for the first 50hrs. I saw no shavings when I did the change.

I have a Kioti CK20, and I was wrong the manual says to change it at 50 hrs. But after talking with the dealer and mechanic I am confident it will be fine. As for motor oil I used Rotella and used all Kioti filters.

i also was told by the dealer that they only change the filters and top off the fluids.so when i did my service i bought my filters and hydro fluid from dealer for $115.00 and got rotella 5w40 oil for the engine.no problems so far and saved a few bucks.

On the hydraulics, I'd go ahead and change the filters. If you have access to a lab locally or by mail, I'd take a sample of the fluid and have it analyzed for contaminants. If it comes back negative, you don't need to change the fluid.

Of course you can change you pants by taking them off, giving them a shake, and putting them back on. The manual doesn't say you can't filter the fluid and put it back in.

I did like the book said , drained at 50 hrs . The cost of machinery is expensive . Preventive maintenance is cheaper . The next drain is not until another 300 hrs. ( a couple of years away ) . I used the MF hydraulic filter and MF hydraulic oil . Peace of mind
