Well again I might be using the wrong terminology for this part :cool:
it is a button on the end of a small sleeve through a spring, the sleeve has a key-way in the side that once the button is press in will line up with the splines on the PTO enabling it to be pull off/on ........ are you messin with me:D

nope. mine has a round sleve that goes around the entire thing. i somply slode the sleeve back and slip it on or off. no button. My shaft for the old snowblower had a button so i know what your talking about.

yeah.... one would think grease would prevent them from getting stuck :cool:
although have been known too, just as a mower wheel & woodruff key gets stuck on the axle shaft of a ridding mower, I think because they're such a tight fit grease cannot get into the contact parts, and what little does winds up drying out to a crust and promote adhesion between the 2 parts;)

yep, for sure needs periodic lube. at least with a roll pin, it has a hollow center, and a split down the side for lube to seep in, unlike a darn woodruff key that once fit, is fit all around and when seized, is a real bugger! I don't mind drilling a thin hollow roll pin. digging out or drilling a galled / seized hardened moon or woodruff key is a horrible job :(

if it's a thin metal sleave, that one usually has a relieved groove inside that lets about 3 balls fall back for removal, I've seen some with a plastic collar and under that collar was a hidden button like the other poster mentioned, and twisting the collar pushed the button.. and yeah.. when they stick, they stick.

I had to take one apart the other day on a beater 5' mower I picked up.. slip ring off and parts out.. and some penetrant oil, and as the other poster mentioned.. tapping with a hammer back and forth.. etc.

you are good. there are at least a half dozen pto coupler styles, some with push buttones both external and some under a collar, some with a pull back collar, some with a push forward collar, some with a twist collar, some old ones that pin on. and some the a pinch pin that rides in a droove, and when pushed has a relief in it to slip on / off.
