Oops GrowFarmers I didn't mean to pull your thread off topic. I encourage you to keep biodiesel in the spotlight.

In a LED spotlight though right? :D I would definitely be interested in hearing more about the LEDs. Would you guys want to start a thread on that? I bought a floodlight a couple months ago and it works pretty well!

I suppose to keep our heads on straight it might be best to keep the focus on biodiesel in this thread, but I look forward to seeing a new one on LED lights!

That said, any other thoughts questions etc. on biodiesel?

Yep.

I think biodiesel is presently useful for someone who can make his own fuel, or has the ability to test purchased fuel and control its quality. I hope an industry will evolve to provide uniform-quality biodiesel. I think reducing dependency on imported fuel should be a national goal.

A nuclear powered tractor would be a hoot. No need for any headlights. It would 'glow' in the dark.

The distrubutor I purchased the bio from mixes his own soy oil and ULSD and I'm thinking the soy oil was stale or something. No matter what, I'm done with bio forever. Just too costly on the back end in filters, repairs and downtime.

Petro truckstops sell bio out of the pump down south, I believe the supplier is none less than WIllie Nelson...aka Bio Willie.
I was thinking about getting a few shares of their stock years ago, but it not on the open market and still a private company.
I recall seeing the prices at Petro after Katrina in arkansas, one place was 41 cents a gallon, and the other advertised 38 cents a gallon. That was some time ago though. Thats when i got the idea as ithught it was a misprint on the road sign, but the second sign confirmed it.

Just occurred to me - can you make biodiesel out of hemp? Maybe Willie's on to something here, a real industry pioneer, if growing hemp ever gets legalized again. It was a major fiber crop from revolutionary days up to WWII, and I think also a source of oil similar to corn, soy, linseed.
