GM bailed on the Toyota partnership after 30 years... it wasn't pretty for the employees as far as GM treatment... Toyota did offer a package.

These partnerships have been going on for years. Every manufacture has teamed up with someone else at one point or another. I take it with a grain of salt. It will not be a major cross over but more of two top manufactures sharing R&D and component structure.

Could be a winner. Should have a ton of torque at zero rpm with an electric motor driving the rear wheels. Maybe we'll see a 35 mpg F150 size PU in my lifetime (I'm 69).

Hopefully they'll get the FJ Cruiser design team together with the Bronco team and bring us a vehicle that is more durable and reliable than the Chrysler Wrangler. If its a diesel, that's even better.

Chris is right about these partnerships going on all the time. Remember Chrysler/Mitsubishi? Nissan and Renault are involved with each other.

Sometimes the magic works, sometimes it doesn't with these corporate friendships.

Here's another with a little more info. If they pull it off I could see it being beneficial for both. Would think there's enough history/experience in past joint ventures that they could figure out a way to make it work...

Ford does not have a Hybrid truck?? GM does, or are you talking about a different configuration??

Would be more accurate to say the Mazda Tribute is a rebadged Ford Escape. They are all designed and built in the US.

If Ford wants to get serious about fuel economy in it's trucks then it will need to learn how to make a truck that has less but stronger steel in it. Also isn't Ford dropping the Ranger? It seams like Toyota has figured out the small truck market a lot better than the full size market. It'll be interesting to see how it turns out.

Must be older than a year, the 2.3 liter engine was a Mazda design but the 08 or 09 got the Ford engineered and American made 2.5. The 3.0 was always Ford and American made.
