Flusher,

Ummm... What are rear hydraulic remotes? and how can I use a pair of them?

Here are the triple rear remotes on my 2008 Mahindra 5525.

These are the hydraulic quick disconnects--three pairs for three hydraulic circuits. These are handy when you have implements that require hydraulic pressure.

These are the control valves for those circuits.

Here's a setup I used when checking out a hydraulic cylinder (aka ram) that I was installing on a grain drill I was restoring.

This one shows the hydraulic hookup to my wheel disc. There's a ram on the disc that raises and lowers the wheels so the disc can be transported from field to field over the roads.

Hope this helps.

David,
There is nothing wrong with 0% interest as long as you understand it is a marketing scheme. Your still paying for the loan, they just include it in the final price rather than giving you true 0% financing. In other words, if you were to buy the tractor outright you would get it for considerably cheaper than if you finance for 0% interest. Don't let them fool you with 0% interest claims.

Piston,

I am TOTALLY aware of the 0% marketing program. The cash price is $2500 less. He said MSRP was ~31,000, his price was $26,380, and they would rebate me $2500 if I did not take the 0% (I will compare the cost of interest vs the rebate when I decide to actually buy)

I try to keep my politics off of this site, but personally I expect massive inflation and devaluation of $$ etc over the next few years, and I'm happy to leverage their money to get what I need to steward over my property which just MIGHT have to feed my family.

I am fully aware that there is not such thing as a free lunch. But with $0 down and 0%, I can have a tractor here in DAYS...

I think I can afford to pay that price (at least I hope I can).

flusher,

CLEAR as a bell sir! It helped very much!

I am adding 2 remotes to my list of "Must Mods" for the dealer. Plus the welded hooks and bucket reinforcement someone mentioned.

THANK YOU!

PS - Good looking tractor!

East TX,

PS - The Bobcat dealer cobnfirmed Kioti build the bobcat, but he also said that the BC, Kioti and Kubota had a ton of common parts, and that they were all Korean. I was positive Kubota was Japanese. Am I wrong?

This guy lacks a TON of specific knowledge or is talking "salesman speak".

Again, Kioti doesn't build the BobCat. Daedong builds them both and they are identical, for all intents and purposes. Think Plymouth-Dodge back in the day.

Ummmm.... Kubota is from Japan!!!! Not really "a ton common parts" to the Korean tractors.:laughing:

bp fick,

Agreed. I am very aware of the OEM world (I used to build computers for MANY companies that never had my company name on the box, only theirs).

Yes, I wanted to confirm that Daedong built both.

He said BC, Kioti, and Kubota had some sort of partnership. I smelt BS when he said it, but other than that bit of sales bolonga he seemed like a nice guy.

I'm gonna try to hit Kubota today or tomorrow. Kioti is a bit more of a drive.

Thanks,
David

David,

Oh sure, these companies share stuff from time to time, have other minor agreements and stuff, but one doesn't need to say "all this stuff is the same" to make one's point.

They are are all fine machines. He ought to have left it at that.

Salesmen. What can say?

If I were you I would look hard at the Kubota MX5100 50 horse open station tractor with Hydrostat, if I did not need a cab.. a very good value/dollar proposition in my opinion. I would also get 2 hydraulic rear remotes and if you have considered a grapple for the front then you want a true 3rd function valve to operate the grapple. If you have a lot of brush and tree pieces parts to move a grapple sure would come in handy.. search here for grapples, to get an idea. It goes without saying you of course need the Skid Steer Quick Attach bucket so you can hook up quick to your bucket, your pallet forks ( a must around a farm to lift palletized stuff) and of course that grapple,. If you dont want kubota 3rd function valve set up the WR Long setup can be added for about 700 bucks. Again go to Everything Attachments to find out by looking at all the wonderful videos there, and all about that 3rd function front remote.
The rear remotes can also be used for a function called "top and tilt" very useful if you box blade or for a grader blade. The hydraulic top and tilt can be bought later, if you have the 2 remotes you are good to go. You can control a grapple by just running a long hydraulic hose from the back to the front to control the grapple, but it is not as convienient as having that third function valve on the loader control joystick with the electric/hydraulic switch control. This allows you to lift/curl the loader control while at the same time opening and closing the grapple "jaws" Think of your arm up and down, your wrist for curl/dump and your thumb and fingers for jaws open/closed. I know all this info is daunting, and I am not trying to "overload" you, but a lot of these things I learned the hard way after the fact, and after buying "wrong". I am trying to save you some of this.. Of course I don't know your budget, and all of these things cost money. But to sum up, make sure to get SSQA (quick attcth bucket) , the rear remotes would be very nice, you can buy the grapple, the forks and the 3rd function electric/hydraulic valve later if need be, or finance it in. get enough tractor, again I would look hard at the MX5100 as an economy model with a lot of grunt. or one of the Kioti/bobcat equivilants.
I would buy Hydrostat. for about 1000 reasons. but that is just me. If I were you I would price out my Kubota from Barlows in KY. They deliver, and many on here have used them with excellent results, never heard a bad word about them, and many have saved thousands. So good luck in whatever you choose, and hope you stay with us and become part of our community.

Take a good look at attachments before buying a tractor. Decide on a width, overall size, and price that you can live with, and see what is most common on the used lists like Craig's list. Ask your local dealers what the most common size of attachments is requested in your area, and what he gets in used as folks upsize, and yes often downsize too. Will you be doing any logging yourself, or will you contract that out. How wide, and rough are your trails. A 50hp tractor is nice for much real work, but you will need roads, and not "trails" to get around. Around here, 5' implements are the most common, and that is what most rental places have too. That means a 30hp tractor to me, and maybe a bit more. My B2620 Kubota is a small tractor for sure, but my woods are very rough, and my needs are mostly hobby in nature, and I enjoy making, and fixing up trails in my woods. For storage, handling alone, price, and working in some very tight places I chose 4' attachments. Not seeing your land I would be a little more inclined to buy at least a B3030, and 5' implements. That is the largest you can go for around the house work comfortably (in my mind) and still be able to run a 5' cutter. I also thought i was going to mow around the house with my B2620, and being a bit older, and not so healthy, I liked the idea of a drive over mid mounted mower deck (lots of obstacles to mow around) Now I'm not so sure I will, and might have gone to the larger B series if I had known that 3 years ago. I think to maintain .5 miles of driveway, and some snow ( and not always when you feel like doing it) I would stick to something with a mid pto drive ( in Kubota that means B3030, B3200, or Grand L size) I have a rear mounted blower on my Kubota, and that can get old fast sometimes. It is nice to have the loader on sometimes though. I guess Ford doesn't recommend plowing snow with the F-150) I do think you will want a front mounted snowblower, or plow in any case. As far as hauling, I can't give much advice, and some F-150's have very healthy towing capacities, but you would have to check that out carefully for anything Grand L in size, or larger. My neighbor bought a Massey 1529 which is a much heavier framed tractor than mine, and perhaps is at least 1000 lbs heavier, but he often uses my tractor for his rototilling, and brush chipping around the yard. He has helped me so much that letting him use my tractor is the least I can do. i think for one thing, his tractor cost enough more than mine did that he couldn't afford to buy attachments. ( I bought my B, a 4' brush hog (rotary cutter) and a pto chipper for the same price as his tractor, and I could buy a front mounted snow blower, and a mid mounted mower, or front blade for what a front mounted snowblower would cost for his) In the Kubota that all changes when you go beyond the B3030 in size. I would also think about getting loader mounted forks in your case too, and those are available for the B series, and up. The neighbor has a skid steer Quick Attach system on his loader, and I like it better than my Kubota system, but it is too heavy for my little B.

Anyway, lots to think about, and lots of fun to shop for. Hmm, maybe I'll make a larger loop on my errand run today. :D :D

James K0UA,

Thank you! I was telling mywife the level of info here on TBN is amazing, and there are all these guys who have already walked the path we are on and I can learn SO MUCH from you guys. THANK YOU!

So... 1) I will try to go look at the MX5100 today. I got a quote on the BC CT450 yesterday. Kioti is a bit farther away, I will go check them out though.

2) Using a Dealer in KY? I'm sure there must be a charge to deliver out of state? I never even considered going to a remote dealer as so many here have advocated liking the dealer is part of choosing the tractor. I'm VERY curious about this option.

3) SSQA? Aren't these standard? All the buckets seem to be quick attach I thought. Or am I being ignorant? I agree, I MUST have quick and easy attach.

As to becoming part of TBN, I hope someday I can be as helpful as all o y'all have been to me. I'm here to stay.

Thanks again,
David
