M59 vs L45 TLB

My primary use of the TL48 was using it with my 96" Harley landscape rake and a 72" box scraper. I used those two implements more than any on the tractor AFTER the loader. Moving dirt from point A to B was fine if A was really close to B but that was rarely the case for me. My acerage was hilly but most of the dirt moving took place using my gravel driveway which had only a slight slope. H range was almost useless under that circumstance unless I was going down the slope. I suppose those that use the hoe almost exclusively could claim that the M range is not to slow and I would understand that except that there are other TL's &TLB's out there where this is simply not the case. That's really my point, there are choices out there that I believe are better suited. If Kubota had simply installed a two range HST like the 40 series where the M range got up to about 7 mph in M-H, then I think the L48 would be superb, a well built tractor for many more people. You are correct about my L3830 HST, it just had the ranges that worked so well for my use of the Harley rake and box scraper not to mention the mowing. I did not have the hoe, I typically rent a construction hoe from my local rental shop when my hoe needs accumulate enough to warrant it. The reach and power are hard to give up.

In all fairness you weren't using the L48 for it's intended purpose either,,, I also had one, for 5 plus years with hoe,, For construction it was hard if not impossible to beat for that size/weight machine,, Terrible using 3 point and hog mowing, Just to slow or too, too fast,, Not good gearing for 3 point use,, I believe you didn't even have the hoe part,, I remember the pictures you showed of a pretty hilly area,, You probably were better off when you traded for the 3830 or whatever it was you replaced the 48 with.

Why no cab on the M59? If that unit had AC/Heat I'd have all my prayers answered in regards to the perfect sized tractor for most of my weather challenged tasks.

With a 59 already in the mid-upper 40's. A 10-15k cab option would have you in striking distance of the full-size construction hoe's.

A do-it-all everything for everyone machine is not possible to build.

Its all a bit of compromise.

Can that JCB 50 hp midi drop it's hoe? does it have 3 pt/ pto ? I don't think I'd buy one if it had everything I am looking for as I have no local dealer and I am sure the resale value sucks.

Thanks for the TLB feedback , keep it coming. I was offered a 2008 leftover but do not like the idea of a machine sitting on the dealers lot for over 3 yrs outside being run for 5 minutes every 4 months.

The hoe does come off the JCB midi, not sure about the 3 point or pto. I have been trying to decide between the Midi & L48. After reading some specs on the Midi It seems like a great machine. still looking for more info before pulling the trigger

One of the BIG downs on the midi PTO is that it is only 25hp.

There are A LOT of options on the L45, that can swing its price by over $10,000.


I had a local dealer offer me a deal on the L45 for $42k, and I think the only option was front 3-rd function.

I bought a M59 from another local dealer for about $2k more, and it added rear 7th function, hydraulic thumb, 6 work lights, bucket cutting edge, and a few other options...
