The road from ****

Hey all, I'm an old retired log hauler from the northwest. I share a road built by a neighbor who didn't care to listen to me about roadbuilding. Now that the bank owns his place I have a clean slate, so to speak. The proper size, larger rock was never applied to the dirt. So i have seen several applications of half inch surface rock just dissapere as time went by,rivers come and go,scrape rock from the highway that came from the top of the hill(oh, did I mention this is about600 feet of hill staight to the road?) My ? finally is,, How do I fix it. I have a small Chinese tractor with a box scraper. I havn't figured how to put a crown on the road so as to work the drainage to the ditch. The county is after me now to fix the problem. Sorry for the lenth of this post,but since it is my first and was told to introduce myself.....Mac

Hmm, sounds like it needs a compacted stone and gravel base and drainage ditches. It's dirt with gravel on top? You might need a bulldozer and a backhoe/loader in there I'm sorry to say.

We had a grader grade about a mile of shared private road a few years ago. He took out the crown and put it in the ditches to make it "nice and flat."

Now everyone is afraid to have a grader on it again, even though I tell them it is not the grader's (machine's) fault
