I need a new Pressure Washer, and was thinking of getting an electric one for light duty, and renting a commercial one for when I needed heavy duty. Posted this inside another post, but thought it would be better as an outside thread.

I'm sick of small engine maintenance, so I'm thinking electric, especially with a pressure washer, where I'm always near a power outlet when I'm near a hose bibb, by definition.

Does this make sense? Any Brand or Model people would recommend?

Thanks

I, recently bought a Greenworks, Model #51012,1700 PSI 1.4 GPM. So far, works great. Have, only had it a short time. So, take this, for what it is worth

I have a Stihl that does exactly what I want a pressure washer for. I even put the pto generator on the back and a tub full of water and insecticide in the front bucket and spray the trees out in the middle of Nowhere.

What model Stihl pressure washer do you have? I searched the Stihl site, and came up empty.
thanks

I've had a Karcher for several years, and suggest you walk right on past them.

I got mine from NorthernTool...I like it and they have a few models to choose from. Did not want another engine to maintain. You'll have to modify your elec. socket(s) to fit the plug...caught me by surprise when I got it...I think it's 3 phase, I just called an electrician - it was not much money.

Rather doubt it was 3 phase. Maybe 220 volt ?

I purchased a Snap-on brand one at Costco. It's listed as 2000 psi but I doubt it really can put out that much power with 110V AC. To be honest it has been excellent. Has maybe 50 hrs on it and works perfect. With Costco you can return it if you don't like it anyway...

I bought a cheap no name one at Menards years ago for $50. It has worked flawless for 10 years now. I did buy a extra hose so it will now reach 50'. I have a spigot in my heated garage where it lives hooked up for 5 plus years now. Makes short work of washing the trucks, tractor, and boats.

I have the Karcher 2000 psi electric from Northern. I must say I am disappointed with its power. It's not much better than a nozzle on my hose. Works o.k. for very light duty tasks such as washing cars, but not enough power for big jobs like muddy tractors. If I had it to do again, I would not buy it. I bought it for quick use so as not to have to start my gas powered one, but it's still more trouble than it's worth.

My 110v Stihl is an R102K Older, but I've seen them for sale at the local ACE hardware store (which handles Stihl parts and repairs).

Interesting, thanks. So what I'm getting is that electric pressure washers are useful, and don't buy Karcher:D (that meets with Amazon reviews & etc.)

In the link above, and at Watercannon.com I saw a bunch of REALLY expensive pressure washers. I'm just not that excited about spending $700 on a pressure washer in all truth, unless you guys talk me into it. Tractor stuff gets me excited. Cleaning products... not so much. I prefer to spend less on the less fun stuff :D Frankly, I prefer to spend less on everything, but have long ago learned the lesson (ok, and keep learning it) that cheap is expensive...

So Stihl interests me a lot. Still seems to have a good rep as a brand. I was a Husqvarna guy, but frankly, it's gone down hill, and I won't be buying Husqvarna again after recent experiences - with the commmercial grade stuff at that.

Will check to see if Stihl still makes them.

I'm not sure, but I don't think Stihl makes them anymore. I bought a cheapo gas powered one at Lowes 10 years ago, I think its a Troy Built, and its been pretty flawless. Its gas powered, but I haven't done much in the way of maintance on it, probably changed the oil 5 times in 10 years is about it, maybe cleaned the air filter once.

Sure it makes sense. All of the ones I've seen ($150 range) have a plastic pump, so none will last. Buy from a place that has a good return policy - that's more important than brand, IMHO.

I got one for my wife to clean our deck - gas powered is way too heavy to haul up and down stairs, and the last thing I need is ANOTHER motor to maintain. I got a Karcher from Sam's club. They last a few usages, then the plastic pump cracks and I return it. I went through 4 or 5 of them - paid for 2 or 3 (wife is bad at saving receipts). Sam's now carries a different brand/model - it's red. I reminded my wife to save the receipt (while cursing and jumping up and down so she'd remember) since I KNOW it won't last. If it does, bonus.

I should have mentioned this earlier, but when I had a day job the electrics of choice was Landa. I saw some that were 7-8 years old and still working like new. Those 7-8 years were spent being used by a group of technicians who normally destroy stuff in a matter of weeks!

Stihl doesn't have any mention of pressure washers on their American website, so I'm guessing its an ex-item. See they carry them in the UK though. Will look for Lana

Good to know about plastic pumps - no surprise...
