I initially tried to push it while it was in low but then popped it into neutral and it still wouldn't move. I gave it a good quick try and then gave up but I assume it would move right away if it was going to move at all. It looks like to work on the brakes I would need to get into the transmission at some level, right?

Thanks,

Matt

Do your brake peddles move freely? Sounds alright like a brake problem. Linkage binding or something holding the brake on.

They brake pedals don't actually seem to move very freely. They work and apply the brakes when I push them but there isn't much movement in them. Kind of like when I push them down they don't really move but the resistance just builds up. I didn't have much time to look at it yesterday and was basically only able to see where the linkage went back to the transmission. I'll take a closer look today and see what I come up with.

Matt, Did you end up finding the problem? It sounds like you have a break issue.

Since I posted I did replace my fuel filter and it did solve the engine bogging down under load problem. It was most noticeable in HI range. Now it works fine.

sounds like not enough free play in the brake pedal(s). the adjustment procedure is in the owners manual and is fairly easy.

to get to the internal part of the brakes (if the adjustment doesn't work) you need to remove the axle housings on each side and it is quite a job for a novice.
