Does anyone have a picture from a manual that they can send me? I bought a operators manuel for my Yanmar 2000 and the picture of the control panel is of a Yanmar 2000BD. I would like to know what the 3 position switch to the left of the steering wheel is and what appears to to have been a light below the steering wheel does ( mine is broke).

There is no light below the steering wheel. The only lights on this tractor are the 3 idiot lights the 2 headlights and the 2 turn lights on the fenders. There is a little black plastic plug, that im not sure what it does really on the dash, but cant remember where it is. That lever your talking about will turn one or the other signal light on for a turn or i think may turn them both on solid at once? i cant remember as i never use it. There is also a pull switch for high and low beams on the dash. That should be it. Oh there is also a horn button.

The wiring diagram that came with the manuel that I bought says something about a thermostart. What is that?

That is used to start in cold weather. YOu turn the key to the left and hold it for 10 seconds then start the tractor. If you have it (there will be a little plastic bottle that holds about 2 ozs on the top of the front of the motor behind the fan. It will connect to the intake with a rubber hose and also there will be a thing that screws into the intake with a wire running to it that will feed power to it. That thing will heat up when you turn the key and then allow some fuel (which is what goes in the bottle) to run in and ignite, warming the air up to aid in starting a cold motor. You really should not need it untill outside air is in the 30's or below.

Not sure I'm on the right page but the manual for the 2000b may be referencing a thermostart light that comes on when put in thermostart position and goes off after 10 or 15 seconds letting you know it is time to crank. My 2002 has that feature as do some others. Thinking the 2000b might have also. The light I'm talking about is below the steering wheel and red.

All 3 of my trouble lights come on on my 2000. The thermal start get power when your cranking the motor and if you turn your key to the L. or Acc. as for the switch below the steering wheel that is my Head Lights. The Blk. Toggle is My work Light and the Red button just above the lights Honk'Honk and it Works. :laughing: My Turn signal switch is behind the wheel most likely the same.

Referring to Carey's picture - If you have a button down where he has installed that square switch, it is likely the first-series Thermostart (manifold heater) switch. This was before the later Yanmars where the Thermostart is activated by twisting the key left. The later series have a dummy plug in that lower dash panel hole.

Either style functions the same except you don't need three hands for the later type. ( = Thermostart, compression release, crank.)

Huh!! Don't know cal. that's the way I bought it. It took me awhile to get the Elec. Sys. straghtened out and working. It did have alot of shade tree or VN in it IMO.

Where you put your "work light" switch there should have been a filler plug. Mine has it. Calfornia is saying that if you have the 1st gen 2000 there may be a button there for the thermostart. You did not have a button there as you were able to use that spot your your new switch so you have a later production model.

It's exactly how I bought it I mainly just had to clean and replace ALOT of connections. I believe Knock on wood the only thing I havn't been into is the Alt. Even Have Both Types of a Volt. Regulators that came on it Old mech. and the Solid State and they both Work. VN? would be Typical IMO.

Yours is the classic, unmolested layout. The left switch is turn signals (probably not connected) and next to that the horn button is missing. No loss; one dealer posted that you have to turn off the engine to hear the horn.

The larger hole in the lower face had a rubber plug, and is for the optional, maybe dealer-added, Thermostart switch. However you have the later ignition switch with twist-left-for-Thermostart so that dash hole is just a relic.

If the labels on the warning lights are illegible, here is what they should say:

The sockets were rotted out on mine so I bought this used replacement set.

Chg and Oil should light up when the ignition is turned on. To test the Temp light, pull up the connector slightly at the sender (top front of engine) and slip in a grounded wire which should light that lamp.

Those pics. will work, The same setup I have with the only thing that has Been altered is my headlight switch has been changed and moved and my service light switch in it's place. It's wired straight to the Battery. Everything is clean and straight forward now. and that is also the same T-signal I have. Just wondering.Does yours Have a model # like this. Esp.-A

When you say fuel goes into the bottle, are you talking about diesel fuel or a started fuel?
