Only a YM14 MkII
i finally removed the gauges from the 1500 and put them on the YM14 and gave it a good run today. runs at 82 odd degrees C (thermostat open temp) and oil cold is a tick over 60 PSI @ idle, 20 PSI when hot. happy with these readings. i have filled the tank up with my 300:1 2 stroke mix and truly believe it runs smoother and quieter now( the f/pump is definately quieter) so we shall see how it progresses. i wanted to take it up to our block and give it a good blast up there but it wont fit in the trailer( too wide) does that mean i now have a legitemate excuse to buy a bigger trailer? when i get the camera fixed i will post some photos

When are we going to see a loader on it?

I'm building a loader in the spring for one of my YM146's.

If the Craftsman tractors can have a loader as small as they are, the YM146 should handle it no problem.

Are you building your loader from plans or your own design? I have a set of plans for SCUT's that I don't need anymore.

Not sure what SCUT is, I was going to use a set from P-F Engineering. They CAD it all out to your tractor dimensions.

SCUT (Sub Compact Utility Tractor). The plans I have came from PF Engineering. I used them for reference when building my loader.

if it had some form of hydraulics on it already(ie 3 PH) i might have thought about it.

If it has the hydraulic lift for the mower deck still, that's all the hydraulics they ever came with. The same piston that lifts the deck, lifts the 3 point.

The factory pump on the YM146/GT14/YM14 tractors only puts out 1.9 gpm and 850 psi. It also has a very small tank. None of that will run a decent FEL setup.

I'm using parts from my spare tractor and my good one to make a shaft drive where the front PTO used to be. That will drive a seperate hydraulic pump that will run the FEL.

On the PF plans, the upright posts are the tanks for the FEL and it is based on using a pump driven off the front of the crankshaft, mounted in front of the tractor. Some people have installed them on a belt drive to the side of the engine.

Can't do the belt drive on the small tractors, unless you want to use the front PTO and drive the pump off of that. They're so fragile, there's no point.

Also can't attach the pump directly to the front balancer (no room). Only way to do it is to use the front PTO shaft (the front PTO itself is electric with clutches) and drive a pump where the PTO was located.

Problem is, if you don't have the front PTO shaft, they run almost $400 new! I bought an entire parts tractor, with a 3 point, rear pto, and BM48 mower (the best they came with) for just a few bucks more than that.

mine has the manual lever to lift the deck, no fandangle hydraulics unfortunately ( do they have hydraulic lifts??) i have the deck clutch driven off the front of the crank anyway so no go there.

All of the GT14 and YM146's did. I don't have a manual for a YM14, but I can't imagine those two identical models and all their smaller siblings would have it and not the YM14 unless there was some sort of restriction on tractors with hydraulics in the UK where the YM14's were originally sold.

no hydraulics on it and never has.strange one that, the GT14 does and YM doesnt? i will look in my service manual and see if it shows it as an option maybe?

All the YM122, 126, 142, 146 and the GT14's came with hydraulic pumps mounted to the engine and a tank right behind the plastic dash in the engine compartment. The hydraulic piston was underneath the seat. It raised and lowered the mower deck and it also raised and lowered the 3 point hitch, if so equipped.

The only other YM14 I've seen pictures of didn't have hydraulics either. Must have been a European thing.

In this really bad picture, you can see where the lift piston is in relation to the rear PTO drive gear.

mine has a spring loaded "assist" to help lift the deck where the hydraulic cylinder is on your machine. i will post some pics of the huge lever it has to lift the deck. could you post some pics of the pump and soforth as i am interested to see how it all is mounted and located.

Here is a shot I found of the tank, filter assembly and lines on the internet. Its on a YM122 1 cylinder, but the tank and assembly is the same. I don't currently have any pics of that part of any of my tractors.
