Doc Watson, no slouch as a guitar picker himself, thought so highly of Merle Travis that he named his son Merle. Tragically, Merle Watson was killed in a tractor accident 25 years ago. I especially like the Travis version of "I Am a Pilgrim."

I have a Bill Monroe CD with another great version of "I Am a Pilgrim." You can't beat the classics, no matter how hard you try.

Was my Dad's favorite song. When he would set down to play that was usually the one we warmed up on. Or maybe "Down Yonder". Every time I listen to a Bluegrass song, I listen to a different instrument. That guitar player was right on top of those old time "runs" on this one. Ken Sweet

Two great fiddle tunes. There's another current thread about Christmas music. One poster wrote about working in a retail store and having to listen to the same tunes over and over again during the season. I can't imagine ever tiring of either "Sally Goodin" or "Down Yonder."
