Awful experience with dealer service

You probably were talking to the owner who is getting his prices beat by a competitor down the road, that is calling him for price on a specific model with certain options and then he quotes the customer in his lobby $500-$1000 less that the his phone quote. His competitor makes the sale and he is left mad and frustrated. Cut throat world out there. Be careful. Ken Sweet

First of all im sorry you were treated that way, that is no way to conduct buisness. Im a MF dealer here in Tx and i have customers that come in everyday talking about how rude the JD, and bota dealers are around here. I hate that they get that kind of service but is good for me cuz it keeps putting customers in my store.

Too bad you had to go through that. If the dealer was worth his salt he'd figure out how to manage a price checking competitor and not chase away legit customers. Seems like a small minded guy so perhaps you got a fair warning and saved yourself dealing with a poor dealer.

(NOTE: I deal with sales and have very low tolerance for customer service abuses due to lack of innovation on the part of business so if my tone seems harsh I guess that's why).

Yeah, that would not be a way to sell stuff,,least he could have done was give you a ball park figure and tell you he would meet you sat. morning to talk about it futher.

I wanted a ck30,,figured that out,,called my kioti dealer[also about an hour away],he gave me a price almost to the penny in about 5 min. over the phone, told him I'd be down the next day,,went there and paid him cash for it the next day,,he delivered the tractor the same day.

If he woulda acted like your guy, probably wouldn't have bought it at all.

Could be you were talking to rude, uninformed sales person who continues to lose sales because he has a crappy phone manner. He continues to spiral down as the more he loses, the crappier he is, and so on..

It might be useful to find out if he is the owner or manager, and if not, speak to them about your situation and see if you can work with them or not.

A dealer that you can trust and that takes care of you is priceless.

That is good that he was rude to you. Now you know not to go there. Nothing worse than when people act like they are your buddy till you cut them the check then forget you ever existed. No you are on to him. Good thing.

When i was looking for my tractor I stopped by the dealer near my home on a Saturday he gave me a good price but I needed it hauled 200 miles to my other place He suggested calling a dealer in the area.I called the closest one 30 minuets away 3 times no call back called the next closest one 1.25 hr
I was on hold about 3 seconds I told him what I was willing to pay he said "were do you want it delivered" and when I said saturday he said ok I asked if he could bring the 50 HR service materials with him he said yes.

When he got there I was looking at the bill all the service stuff was listed nc?
Questioned him about it he said to be honest it was great to deal with some one that wasn't in the store 4 or 5 times brow beating for a cheaper price and it was on the house.
He said you knew what you wanted and were willing to pay. and proceed t tell me if I needed service or had to have back to the shop for service it would be nc if they could schedule it when they were in the area.

I have seen that the more you pull some dealers, the more firm they get. Ken Sweet

Well, the point is, I'm currently polling around trying to see which dealer seems to be ready to come part of the way to fulfill my tractor needs, and obviously, this particular dealer was not even trying at all...

Indeed gauthier, he could have answered something like the following "You know sir, I really can't give you a price on the phone since our competitors are using this kind of info to snipe us, but I would like you to consider coming to see our tractors in person at our dealership. I could talk you through all our tractors wonderful features and you could see how great our service department is"

Using this kind of formulation would have meant the same "objective" thing, but in a much better subjective coating, and then I might just have gone there to see what he had to offer.

An the worst part of this for him is that prior to talking to him, I didn't even knew about the said competitor... Now I will probably go to previously unknown dealer B because dealer A was such a weiner on the first contact.

Too bad there are such crappy dealers. And too bad tractors are so expensive to move over large distance, because I'd gladly make buisness with dealers I heard about on TBN, some of which seems to be really oriented towards helping their customers.

I was looking for a new vehicle this April. Chrysler was advertising a Caravan for $19,999 - full page ad and also Ram 4x4 Quad Cab for $25,999. Although I prefer GM, thought I'd drop into one of the local dealers for a look. I wander around the showroom for a while and eventually someone actually notices - asks what I want and direct me to Sales Guy in his office. I ask about a brochure for the Van and can I see one. Nope they don't have any. OK - how about a brochure on the truck and see one. Nope they don't have one either plus he tell me I probably wouldn't want to buy one anyway, because they are pretty plain. Well don't they have PB, PS, PW, AIR etc. Sure but they're still pretty plain.

So he gets me the brochures and sits down on his chair. I take the brochures and by now wife has come into the showroom as well so we wander around looking at the $45K van they do have and the $55K Laramie. Nobody else bothers us and Sales Guy sits in his office. We leave.

I go home and email the GM of the dealership telling my story and indicating why I will not be purchasing anything at his store.

So here is Chrysler spending literally hundreds of thousands for full page ads in national papers etc to get potential customers in the showroom and when one does walk in the dealership treats them like crap.

I think I'd tell the rude salesman that since he's not inclined to help you that possibly his manager would be a better person to discuss your potential purchase with.

Hi
Too bad about your experience - makes it easier fro the good dealers but .....

I recommend you get in touch with Tom at Lakeridge Country Equipment in Uxbridge Ontario. Kioti, Husqvarna, Toro, PJ Trailers,TimberKing, Service Lakeridge Country Equipment Uxbridge, ON (905) 862-3144

I don't know if he ships that far but he is a great person to deal with. I bought a DK45SE HST from him last fall. My first inquiry was by email at about 7:30 in the evening. By 9:00 that evening we had had two e-mail exchanges and were making arrangements for me to visit his dealership in the next couple of days.

First class all the way - Check out the "Two new KIOTI Owners" thread for another opinion.

Good luck.

I would call the manager/ owner just to let him know he lost a sale and why. Competitor sniping?? welcome to the business world! competition is just that..competitive.. so get competitive with your prices.

I shopped around for my DK35, found a dealer willing to deal.. he delivered on a weekend on his own time.. That was a good dealer and i would give him 1st shot on any new ag purchase.

By the way I don't much shop vehicle dealers either that aren't confident in posting their prices or "rough" quoting.. My $ is important to me and so is MY time..

This story reminds me of a time I was shopping for a new truck... I'd got to a dealer and tell them what I was looking for and I wanted their best price. It would be a cash deal.
One fellow told me he didn't sell trucks like that... "If I give you my best price, you'll simply go down the road until someone beats my price by a few dollars." He refused to give me a price.

I looked at him and asked if he was kidding. Guess who I didn't buy a truck from? lol

And the dealer was right, I'll bet he's right a lot, at least the part about buying somewhere else!! :D MikeD74T

The thing that these dealers need to realize is that showing no interest in the clients result in the clients going elsewhere, thus having exactly the same result as if they'd get lowballed by a competitor. At least, by being more friendly and interested in their salesman job, they could prevent part of the lowballing from occuring because they would still retain some of them instead of making them all flee.

Give a call to corporate Kioti. Bet they would like to know how that dealership is treating possible Kioti customers. Here in the states, they have a customer hotline. I'm sure they have one for Canadain customers also. Might be a good idea to put a bug in their ear. Trac

I just had a pleasant phone conversation with a new Mahindra dealer in my state. I advised of my problem and he said he WILL FIX IT for me and was anxious to earn my business. That right there sounds like people I want to deal with. Although I'm was only going to get my warranty work done there I advised I'd like him to fill my rear tires and I might get them to do my 50 hour service for me as well.

I'm dumbfounded by dealers who don't want to do what it takes to keep/earn customers.

The dealer I bought from in PA is really good about this. I think they will fix ANY BRAND on ANYTHING knowing they might snag ya as a return customer.

Sorry to hear about your troubles and hope you find a good dealer!

I agree with hawkeye though. better find out if he was the owner. If he is then run the other way if not then speak to the owner and tell them what happened regardless if you buy or not. I got a gal fired once because of her poor customer service. heh the owner checked my story with his recorded phone conversation.
