Kioti or Kubota

I'll have to plead ignorance on speaking Korean. I don't see anything that says John Deere on the tractors. Since I can't speak Korean, it looks like Daedong is copying JD tractors in higher hp models like they did Kubota in smaller tractors. It proved successful for them copying Kubota, why wouldn't it be successful for them to copy John Deere? If you're trying to say that Daedong is making John Deere tractors, you'll have to come up with something better than that. Again, you'll have to forgive me, I do not speak a lick of Korean even though I'm relatively certain most Koreans likely speak quite a bit of English.

Maybe you own a Kioti hybrid and never new it? :D

This is really nothing new and has been posted in years past. If my memory serves me right the South Korean made John Deere's serve the Asian markets.

.....and by the way, your comment regarding the "average lawnmower" (in another thread) had me visioning your vintage Montgomery Ward Murray rider. I'll apologize, I noticed your virtual Murray is a standard walk behind push mower.

Not sure but the link below seems legit. Daedong had a relationship with Kubota with Kubota giving them assistance early on but they did not make tractors for Kubota according to the website. They have had licensing agreements with other U.S. tractor companies but to what extent is unknown. The links are evident between the companies but once again to what extent is unknown.

For what its worth:

One has to wonder how Kioti came away with keeping their colors and design so similar to Kubota's in the confidential lawsuit agreement that has surprisingly been kept confidential for all these years.

By the way, I bought a Kioti DK40SE, which is 4wd with FEL last year for $16,200

The debate rages on.

Um, that's not Daedong. Kukje is spelled a bit different. Still, I do not want to claim I speak Korean. However, what you posted is like saying that Ford truck division made Corvettes because they both were made not only in the U.S., but both in Kentucky.
daedong owns Kukje Machinery
And in same factory on the same asembly line

I am just curious.......

Some of you are surprised and or in denial that huge conglomerates have their product built in other factories?

Come on, this is 2010, they all are going to have them built wherever they can make the most money

Again, maybe you speak Korean, but I don't. Based on web searches, Kukje's equipment manufacturing plant, not furniture making plant, is based in Soul, Korea. Daedong is listed as being in Daegu, Korea. A quick search shows that these are two different cities. Must be one heck of an assembly line!

Copying and pasting the Korean from Kukje's site on a translator page seems to indicate that the JD products made there are sold in Asia and some in Europe. I saw no mention of products sent to the U.S. Besides, you clearly seem to have a wrong impression. Unless you've purchased a totally loaded DK90, I've spent more money on a Korean made product than you have on a Korean tractor. If I thought Korean = junk, do you think I would have done that?

Where a company is based does not mean that's where the factory is located. There are probably many factories as well as many office locations, including the HQ all over Korea. It's also very probable that all tractor manufacturers get parts from at least some common suppliers, and that they all have very incestuous relationships. The exact nature of these cannot be ascertained by an outsider so easily. Especially with the huge Korean conglomerates. Someone says they've seen the machines on the same assembly line - why can't their word be taken at face value, unless you truly have facts to the contrary?

Very true. Perhaps we should let RSKY tell us which tractor he has picked now that he has learned all about steel, who builds what tractor and parts for whom.:laughing:
