i just bought startrack voyager dvd hole set from china payed 119. us would of cost me 350.

You might not want to tell too many people about that.
"Made in China" or "COPIED in China"

My guess is that you are "in receipt of an illegal copy of copyrighted material"

PS "too many people" being everyone who reads here.

If you look at the KK rototiller that everyone is buying I get the feel that if it is a Well Built Product at a lower price most people don't give a hoot where it's made. I wouldn't care about a lesser paint job if the product performed and was a great deal cheaper. Made in USA has many variables and the consumer today is much wider w/ internet etc, as to the quality, durability and performance of almost all products. I'd love to buy American but the Government is getting into too many American major products.. If it has a good price, is durable [not saying pretty] I'll buy it. Just my Opinion..

I beleive the TBN guys are pretty astute buyers, recognize the difference between junk and the good stuff, and are quite patriotic. ( good guys IMHO).

HOWEVER.....I believe the TBN vs the public in general is like the 80 / 20 rule. The TBN guys being the 20 who may pay the difference....but 80 % wont....and they are after the lowest price.

Having said this.....I think its changing....and just maybe we have turned the corner and Made in America will sell again? But I havnt seen many Wal Marts closing thier doors lately.

Good luck with your decision.

we buy quality and reliability-thats it=======we do sometimes pay a bit more for a piece
thats heavy duty and will hold up======do not like field downtime--like to buy American

I spend a good deal of time looking to buy things made in my country,by my friendsand nieghbors,it,s getting harder.Even my much loved Harley has parts not made here,it,s getting very hard to avoid. I will spend the extra money to buy things made in this country.I wanted to buy a tractor made in the US but none are under 60 or so HP.I do my best and fail much more than I,d like to:(Dave

I would gladly pay 10 percent more for ''MADE IN THE USA''. We have free trade agreement in which keeps cost down for made in China or what ever country, but yet they still tax ares. (Most) Some free trade agreement. I annoy people at parts stores cause I ask them where parts are made. So when I can get USA made products, I request it.
Me too. Awhile back I was needing a carb kit for a 6 cyl ford. Napa had 3 at different price points and said the more expensive was US and had more stuff in it I did not need. Come to find out, the cheapest of the 3 was US and had exactly what I needed. Go figure.

You can see by my attachment list that I like to buy Canada/USA but it is mostly because, so far, that is where I believe I am getting good quality stuff and, added bonus, if I need to talk to someone about an issue I will find someone that speaks some sort of English. The last LandPride attachment I bought (flail mower) had a metric plug in the gearbox. No problem for me since I have metric and inch size tools but, I had to ask why that was on a suposedly Made in the USA product. Turns out the gearbox and PTO shaft came from Italy. Well, okay. That is acceptable to me but I would rather know that up front.
Bottom line, Made in the USA is somewhat important to me but, well made and well backed (with durable paint;)) and hasn't been shipped halfway around the world, yes I will pay for that.

I know it's heresy, but made in USA does not guarantee quality materials or construction.

You are right, but the shoe goes onto the other foot just as easily. Made in China does not MEAN "junk" either. The Chinease and other countries of similar ilk make some AWESOME stuff, but after shipping you can't sell it here at a profit. I predominantly fault the governement of China for artifically depressing the value of ther money - making their exports relatively cheap to the world economy.

I do not fault the manufacturers for building to a price point, I fault the BUYERS for choosing quantity over quality. Me = guilty as charged like us all, to some degree.

However, I've discovered that price is not always a true indicator of quality.

True that! But, I have NEVER been sorry I paid a little more for the "better" product but have often regretted trying to save a dime and going cheap.

I've had more than one "american" auto made (assembled) in Canada and Mexico. My last Honda was assembled in the US. who knows where the parts in them come from.

I factor in the amount of time I will use something vs quality vs price when buying. I have some chinese metal snips I bought to use once, they were inexpensive and did the job I bought them for. I just bought a new mower, and I went with a more expensive model with a welded deck instead of a thinner stamped deck. If I'm buying something to hill up dirt, that I would use for about 5 minutes a year, I would be looking for the least expensive one.
