Your first service you will have to change everything but I would say that If you take it back to your dealer and paid their labor probably around $300 to $400 hope you enjoy your new Kubota Tractor.

I dont think you'll have to change everything @ 50 hr service
I think its engine oil and all the oil filters, hydro filters
torque wheel bolts and etc....

Agree. At least don't assume the hydro fluid gets dropped at 50. Kubota seems to be shifting to filters only at 50 hours and the fluid stays in until a few hundred hours. Increasing confidence in their fluid? Build? EPA thing? All of the above?

Yes, on the engine oil and filter.

Is this true for new BX's also? I'm gearing up to do mine, and manual says change all fluids. I've heard about manuals being out of date, so which would it be?

The BX's have been saying only filters and oil at 50 hours for almost 2 years. If yours says something different.......?

I changed filters, oil and hydraulic fluid at 50 hours just like the book says, did it all myself (all the stuff delivered from Messicks). Cost about 250$ total with the shipping. Dealer was too far away, it's an easy job, just a little messy.

John, the person or persons from TBN do not know what they are talking
about. There has not been a Service Bulletin or even a notice sent to the
dealers that this is a mistake in the Operators manual. Kubota Tractor
recommends for you to follow your Operators manuals for servicing of each
unit you have. The BX2660 and the BX25 do not have to have the transmission
fluid change until it reaches the 400 hour mark. For the F2680, it is the
200 hour mark. The transmission oil filters need to be replaced and the
suction strainers cleaned at or before the 50 hour mark for all three
units. Your selling dealer can also assist you if you have any questions in
regard to servicing your tractors. Thank you for purchasing and contacting
Kubota Tractor Corp..

This is the reply from Kubota concerning my question about the 50 hour service.

Read your BX manual again carefully. I have mine open in front of me.
Page 36.
There is no circle indicating 50 hr HST fluid change. Clean screen, change filter. That is all. First little circle on trans fluid is at 400 hours. Since that might be 5 years for me, I doubt I'd go quite that long without a change, if only to rid any condensation. Maybe 200 hours. We shall see.

Mine, however, did get changed. But that's a different story.:D

It is required that you change hyd oil after the first 50hrs on the standard L series but not on the Grand L series.

AH HA, mine is on page 35, I could have been fumbling around for quite some time had my wife not been nearby. I do see that you are correct, no trans fluid until 400 hrs. I'm sure that will be many years for me as well. Is the story interesting? Is it general fussiness that lead you to change yours, or some bigger reason? Inquiring minds would like to know.

Short version. Added the FEL. Needed to add 2 quarts to fill FEL and lines. No sudt on hand. My bad. Used generic udt. Foam, jerkiness, and whine ensued. Forced to dump it all and re-fill with SUDT. All is well. So, despite the manual's 400 hours, my goof. It got changed.

I've not purchased yet (BX25) but my dealer has told me several times that my first service will be at 50 hrs and it will cost me $400. They did say I can do it myself so it would be good to know what the potential savings will be.

Thoughts?

Since the HST fluid no longer needs to be dropped, your 50 hour service isn't even close to $100 in parts.

HST filter $20
Regular oil filter $6
3 quarts of oil $12
2 quarts of SUDT for make up. $18

The rest is labor, unless you wish to replace fuel filters, $7 a piece.

As you can see, there isn't a whole lot to it, financially. It helps you learn about your tractor and you get good guidance and walk thru advice from guys here on the forum. Personally, I enjoyed it enormously. Being without your tractor, while you wait in line for it to be serviced is no fun. Transporting it to and from is yet another issue.
