855 60" mid mount mower help please

Last year I purchased a 60" mower for my 855, unfortunately it was in tough shape cosmetically speaking. The poor thing had flaking pale yellow paint over heavy red primer over the old original finish. So I cleaned it up and painted it last week and it came out very good.

Now I need some help in decal placement and in getting a replacement serial number tag. My JD dealer can get me the decals, but he doesn't know where they go. I checked my operator's manual and the JD site with no luck. When I asked about a replacement tag (mine is almost completely illegible), he gave me the hairy eyeball.

Does anyone know where the decals go? Can anyone point me to a site that sells replacement tags without thinking you stole something?

By the way, I'm not selling anything (unless you want to buy a Craftsman rider with a 26 HP Kohler engine, a 54" deck and only 5.2 hours on the clock - it's a long story...). The pictures I posted are of the mower deck I'm buying for my JD770.

Your 755 is HST, right? Mine is a crashbox. Maybe the Mid-PTO is a little different on the 755; on my 770, it's offset a little to the left of the tractor centerline, so the gearbox being on the left is actually good for my rig. Anyhow, this one came off of a 790, which is basically a big brother of my 770 and JD says the mounts are all the same.

No, it's not mine. I don't live anywhere close to Iowa. I have eBay searches set up to find these things and this one came up tonight. After Friday, I can cancel my eBay searches, if all goes according to plan.

Sure is gonna be nice mowing my place with a rig that has big wheels; those riding mowers just beat the crap out of me.

Unfortunately,........ I have most everything I need. (If you tell my wife, I'll deny it!)

I like to keep my eyes open for a deal. I've got the JD855 w/ a backhoe and FEL, the belly mower and a woods bush hog. Now what I would really like is a bigger tractor with about 60hp,but I can't justify it right now.

I like to go to auctions too, but I don't have the hang of them. At some auctions people can't pay enough for the junk they buy. These seem to be the estate type, were everybody comes and nobody except me has an idea that they are overpaying. I went to a surplus municipal equipment auction last year and nobody was bidding. If I had the cash, I could have purchased an 855 with cab, snowblower, snowplow, FEL and an extra set of ag tires for $6800. I could have got my money back by selling the accessories!

I want to get a belly mower for my 3320. I'm finding alot of decks that fit the 4000 and 4000ten series tractors. Will they match up to mine? I had a JD dealer on Machinefinder tell me the decks are the same, just the attaching parts are different. Anyone have any ideas?

I had the opportunity to buy a JD 955 about 10 years ago with 800 hours on it for $12k. I was leery because it was a rental return, but still in excellent shape.

I have been kicking myself ever since!

The resale value on the 955s are still out of sight! I know of no close replacement, from any manufacturer. The HP:weight ratio is perfect. Especially if your land is on a steep hill.
