I recently ran my BX1500 and it had trouble going up the smallest hills. I thought that it had a clogged trans filter or strainer. I did a full service replacing engine oil/filter, air filter, both fuel filters, radiator flush/fill, trans filter, UDT and cleaned the strainer. The strainer had a few shavings on it but not excessive. After all of this, it still has no go power. If someone were driving it and I stood in front and pushed, the tractor would probably stop. The engine sounds fine with full RPMs and there is no smoke. The mid and rear PTO run fine and the 3-pt raises, lowers and returns to neutral fine. Front loader operates but doesn't seem to have as much power although it's hard to tell if I can't drive to lift anything substantial. I'm out of ideas and internet research has yielded nothing. Any help ya'll could give me would be great.

Thanks,
Christian

Sounds like a stuck open relief valve. There are 2 - one for forward 1 for reverse. Does it act the same backing up? Does the pedal feel normal? How many hrs. Is this totally sudden?

The tractor has 580 hrs. I last replaced the UDT at 400 hrs. I noticed this problem just a few weeks ago and thought my service would clear up the problem. It pushed snow in February just fine. It does seem to go faster in reverse than forward, but not by much. I checked out the PDFs attached to that thread but I don't know much about hydraulics or anything outside of what is in the owner's manual for that matter. I'll get the pressure tested but I dread taking anything I own to a shop. This one is beyond my ability to diagnose in my shop.
Thanks,
Christian
BTW - How do I get my hands on the manual those PDFs came from?

The RPMs don't seem to drop really, but I do hear a "whiney" noise . It does make a whiney noise.

I beleive if you do a search for "mighty mouse ate cryptonite" you will find a post with similar problems. Last report the dealer suspected the saddle bearings had failed on his tractor. About 99% sure this was also a BX1500. His symptoms where very similar to what you describing. This would be a fairly extensive and invasive surgery into the rear end of your tractor. Might want to find that post and send the OP a PM to see what the final verdict was and how they diagnosed it.

good luck

Ah, then you guys are barking up the correct tree (tranny). Some guys post a similar complaint, but with bogging or stalling under load, those are usually fuel delivery (filters).

Good luck and keep us posted.

I am the poster of that thread. My symptoms were different from what I interpret from his description. Mine had pedal feedback symptoms. Pedal felt normal - good tractor push force - then all of a sudden the pedal lost feedback and "fell". Tractor push was then gone. Let off pedal and re push and power was back - - over and over. The shop said all the hydraulic pressure readings were good so it was a mechanical problem - something broken inside.

I believe our failures are different. Im very interested in what the problem on the OPs BX is.

I would check and make sure the brakes are free. The shafts/can sieze up and lock the brakes. I would also make sure the lift was in neutral/middle position because it really robs the power if they are bypassing through the relief valve.

OP, any resolution to the problem with your BX1500??

From your symptoms, you may be looking at an air leak on the suction side of the pump. There is a flex pipe between the strainer and the pump that can develop a small crack or pinhole leak. It causes a general lack of power and typically a whine when the HST pedal is depressed. Check for leaks before deciding to dive into the transmission.
