Locating chains

I don't have a welder or anything so, I wanteto quickly mount some chains on my tractor. Here's what I did.. kinda tacky, but it works.

I use a 4-6" pvc pipe about 18"long{I thinK} to hold my chains, just hook the sides and drop the chain into the PVC bucket{cap on one end}. I drilled and ran wires on one of mine instead of a cap so that dirt and such could fall through.

4" PVC pipe and a couple of large hose clamps around the ROPs. An old milk crate can be mounted on the brush guard also for goodies. I drilled a several drain holes in the cap at the bottom.

I don't see anything wrong with expediant solutions to problems. I don't think I would put chain in glass jars however. I carry stuff like that around in my bucket, can't get more expediant than that

Yup, any kind of storage (except the glass bottle) is acceptable.
I made a specific chain box out of an old ammo box which was given to me by my good friend Larry G. Attached it to the fel tower for easy access. It opens from both top and bottom, so when the chains are inside, I flip the bottom open and the chains drop out. My wife's tractor has the same set-up. Here is the thread to that:

About a year ago I looked all over on my tractor for a place to mount a chain holder. The steps, tool box and loader made it tough to find a big enough spot. I finally found a space near the rear hitch. It's hard to tell in the picture but it is about 3" away from the tire. I made a steel bracket and mounted an old ammo can on it. The ammo can does an excellent job of keeping the chains clean.

In post above he states it is about "3 inches from the tire"- or is that to close for your taste??

It's about 3" from the tire. It would be nice to have it further away, but there was no room to shift it over any more. The good news is that after a year of use it hasn't gotten hit or damaged.

It also has been a handy location when pulling with a chain from the drawbar.

Thats why the jar is placed inside outer container( water jug)- to catch all the broken glass
