block heater install on b2400

Anyone install a block heater on a b2400? Does it go in engine block just above the water line return replacing part 050 in attached pdf file? Anything else of which I should be aware? Thanks tomf

Correct, part 50 becomes a paperweight after the install. Drain the radiator fluid and flush the system while you're at it. Wrap the new heater threads with 2 wraps of teflon tape to reduce the potential for drips.

I did a block heater on my 2710 about 3 weeks ago and it went so smoothly I thought sure I'd forgotten something. Of course it was about 15 degrees that day out in the barn, which was sort of nice...

Sixgun, what did you use for thread sealant when you installed your heater? Any leaks?

Great! Now I know what I forgot...

I went solely with the tape. I read numerous threads and noted the problems that others have had - including an alleged bad batch of heaters floating around several years ago. Have to admit, though, that it was sort of hard to torque the heater plug with my fingers crossed. No leaks yet.
