3 weeks ago i see a walmart banner online that has a panasonic
plasma 46" tv at wally world for a good price (from what i could see)
so i bought it, seemed like the skilled sales help there didn't really know much about plasma or hz etc. but it's been a good tv, i like it, it's the right size for us.
so sunday, i see they have it on sale, a rollback price, for $100 less than i paid. i called customer service at the store, and ask their refund policy, and they say it's 90 days. bring it in with the reciept, and they inspect the merchandise blah blah blah. so i ask about a price adjustment since the price 3 weeks ago was a "doorbuster" price, and now it's $100 less. they say that i'm out of their 7 day price adjust window.
so i go back to talking about a refund, and while i'm there, maybe i'll buy another one for the lower price, and she mentions something about taking the floor model or something like that.
am i wrong to think that they are not being very fair with this? it's not like it was a black friday sale, and only good till noon friday, or a limited time sale, it was a price rollback. (at least that's what the price tag said)

they aren't the only store that does that. i bought the wife a netbook on black friday.. the unit was on sale 20$ cheaper than advertised... I went back yesterday to get one for myself.. and it was 50$ cheaper than advertised.. same model.. same color.. etc. go figure... an no.. no price matches.. it's not worth the 30$ for me to pack her's up.. remove the software I've installed, and get another, and reinstall all that software.. :(

I'll probably draw some flak from this but I think the store is fair. Prices on technology items are always dropping. The TV you bought was probably $1000 more a couple of years ago.

A retailer may buy a TV for $600 and sell it on sale for $700. When he replaces his stock the next month, the TV may have dropped in price and he pays $400 for it and sells it for $500.

Why should he reduce the price of the TV he sold you last month to a price less than what it cost him? If the price of his TVs went up this month should he go back to you and claim that you owe him more for the one you bought last month?

I wish we could do this with gasoline. Sometimes I buy a tankful for $60 and the next day I could fill it for $50.

yea, i hear ya. it's just the whole principal of it, thinking
i bought it at a great price, then it's less 3 weeks later.

but it is a great tv.

OK - OK - Let me make you feel better..5 yrs. ago the Mrs. and I paid $3.200.00 for a 42 in.Panasonic Plasma TV at Best Buy and bought their 3 yr. protection plan for another $300.00...Obviously we never used the warranty..it is a great TV but just how sick do you think we are to see that we could get the same TV now for about $600.00...that was back when Plasma first came out. I remember the first VCR I bought was $850.00 ....I need to stop being the first to buy...LOL - Feel better now ?

Some days you get the bear and other days the bear gets you. If it was a good price when you bought it, it's still a good price today. Like Soundguy, it ain't worth repacking and taking back for the $100 off. We just bought a Samsung 46" 1080p, 120 Hz, LCD TV with a picture so good that I'm afraid those football players on the sideline may hear me if I scream at them too loudly.;) I will not be putting myself through a bunch of grief by looking at prices after Christmas. I know prices will drop, but my picture will still be good enough to put a smile on my face.:)

Maybe the real question is whether it will last or fail. I bought a TV last year during one of the seasonal sales that fortunately failed within the store's 90 day return policy and I got my $ back. Sometimes I wonder if the mfgs crank these things out for the sales so fast that the quality control isn't there.

Jim...the bear ate me a few times but as you say sometimes we eat the bear and we have had 5 yrs. of great TV with no problems..and there have been other times where I came out on top...so it all probably evens out in the end.

tallyho8, i agree with you: i think walmart has ruined people about taking things back: i know its hard to swallow sometime, but i figure make the best deal you can an then live with it. kinda like buying a new truck, to find out your neighbor just bought the same truck, from the same place for several K less...heartbreaking but thats what happens sometime.

boy, isn't that the truth. this is our first new tv in over 5 years,
have had a small flat screen on the computer, but not 46" !!
the picture sure is great.

now about that surround stuff.............
