I'm getting ready to pull the trigger (finally) on a toothbar for my BX24 and just thought of something that I need to ask first. For those of you that own a toothbar, are there any issues with removing your FEL with the toothbar still attached? Just wondering if the toothbar throws off the geometry of the FEL removal process?

No difference on mine. Actually never really thought about it till now.

None. It balances out nicely.

Hmmm, the teeth endanger my ankles a bit more when the loader is on its dolly..., but other than that, no problems.

When you dump the bucket at 15 degrees or so as the first step and then lower the boom to raise the front tires instead of resting the bucket on the front bar it's resting on the teeth. The teeth can handle this, and if anything, this saves the bar.

The toothbar increased the usefullness of the tractor and help me haul more firewood at a time, not to mention I'm now able to ram a pile of rip rap without worrying about bending the bucket. This is the easiest way to load the bucket when the rip-rap is on my sloped gravel driveway.

I bought a BX2350 a year and a half ago. I had two grab hooks wended on the FEL, but the greatest bang-per-buck in terms of using it a lot was a Markham tooth bar.

I just removed the loader with the tooth bar in place, and there was no difference when I used to remove it before the tooth bar was installed.

I don't like to put the loader on and off much, so sometimes I have to think a bit on how to do it. On YouTube I found a very brief video posted by Messick's on how to remove the loader from a BX24. I wish the video was a bit more wide angle, so as to see more clearly the tilt of the front of the loader as the rear FEL attach points lift off their mounts on the tractor. But I did about what the guy in the video did, and voi la, it was off.

The bucket with tooth bar is now slightly tilted upward as it rests on the ground, allowing me to remove the tooth bar to allow winter use of the FEL for moving snow.

As you can see I loosen the side bolts and flip the toothbar back into the bucket and then dismount the loader with no problem. My son & I made this toothbar at his machine shop this past summer. Also when the toothbar is flipped back I can mount my bucket forks. I posted multiple pictures on the forum back in the summer.

Thanks for all the replies. As Dean said, I guess I think too much! Just wanted everyone's opinion on whether I would have issues before I found out the hard way on my first FEL removal with the toothbar. I remove/install my FEL allot for different projects.

I have not had an issue with the geometry being off - but think about where you are performing the procedure (but don't over think it.....:D )

Had the TB dig in easily to the asphalt and it can/will make marks in concrete. I usually lay down a 2x5 foot piece of plywood in the garage or driveway. And obviously it would do a little more damage to the lawn

Good point NuBota. I normally remove my FEL in my large shed with a wood floor. I have a rubber mat under the tractor, maybe I will buy another mat to remove the FEL on instead of digging into the floor. Thanks.

Just an FYI, If I try taking my FEL off when I have the Grapple attached it completely changes the geometry, I need to add about 6" under the support legs to get enough height to clear the FEL frame mount

I keep my tractor and all attachments in one garage bay with a concrete floor, so this an issue for me when I take FEL on/off, as I gouged some sizeable grooves in the concrete with the TB. I usually just pull the toothbar off if I am going to remove the FEL. An alternative would be to lay down a sheet of plywood or an old piece of carpet, an old area rug, or old large floormat from a vehicle. I tried to think of a way to make a long "cap" to cover the teeth, and even asked for ideas on TBN, but there were no practical ideas.

If I kept the FEL outside on soil or gravel, there would be no issue.
