$8250 including loader, or bare tractor? If thats with the loader I call that priced plenty right. I agree with alot of your observations...... soft market, no one has money unless its a smokin' deal, etc. My only advice...... advertise (which i know you are doing) and be patient. I've been in your shoes before, and with a little patience..... I've always been able to sell close to my asking price.

The economy sucks.
Very few people have that kind of money up front.
And since the dollar is cheap, if they can get a low interest rate, they will opt for keeping the cash and playing with someone elses money.

I totally agree, right now use someone else's money not yours, especially with 0% financing. I don't know about your asking price but when I started looking for a used L3400 with my specs I found I could have a brand new one for a couple thousand more! Don't know if it is my area, just seems like tractors hold there value here. :D

That is a good price. I paid $13,000 for my B7800, FEL, Mid Mount, LR, PHD, RB and tooth bar with just a few more hours 1.5 years ago (with a dented hood).

You just need to find someone that has the cash on hand, which is hard these days.

Looking at the pics -
Paint the hoe and fix the seat.
You've got an excellent price if all is in good running order.
I would definitely have looked at it instead of my current ride this last spring.

I agree - fix the seat, blast and paint the bucket and peal off the old stickers and put new ones on. It will make the unit look a lot better and may make you and extra grand or so....
Good luck

I suspect that financing could play a role here.
At a couple of thou most folks can find ready cash but when yo get close to $10,000 (well OK, over $5000) most need to finance, so your market gets much slimmer.

Once won a govt auction at $3000. for a seized current year Subaru that (at the time) should have retailed at $15,000 used.
I had to wholesale it for around $6 even tho I has asked only about $9.5. retail.

It had warrantee left, so there were no service issues and it was super clean with a mere 5,000 miles or so.
At auction it could not start due to blown fuse link in starter circuit and as a joke I placed my 'garbage bid' fully knowing of the factory warrantee would cover any major repairs.

After much pondering (and Q's from 'lookers') I realized that no bank would finance unless via a dealer and at that time and place the amount of ready cash was outside of most folks capabilities.

You can sell anything if the price is right. Obviously it is too high for your market. You might try expanding your market and bring in more determined buyers. After all tractor buyers are a pretty small market.

I tried to sell my old Corvette locally and got 0 inquires after 3 weeks. I expanded my market reach and sold it in a week.

Just alot of tire kickers who expect to buy for pennies on the dollar and don't know what they are looking at.

Tire kickers like that have been the norm for the last year. Don't feel bad. Your priced right, it just take more time than usual to move bare tractors without implements & loaders. We often put loaders on slow moving tractors to help them go. We just took 6 months to move a rough B7800 with 1700 hours for $7000. If your having trouble, most dealers will sell on consignment for you.

I was asking $8250 for the bare tractor no loader or $10K w/ my FEL setup, ATI adapter and 2 skid buckets.

I just have to ask........ why go through the trouble of removing the loader, bracketry, and plumbing to have a loader in your yard that (to my knowledge) only fits one model of tractor? I can understand the backhoe..... that'll sell by itself no problem. But the loader?

to me, looking at your setup, the tractor looks like it has around 2000 hours on it --

it appears to have been stored outside --

it still has the ID numbers on it from the rental shop where you purchased it -- a sign (to me) that it was rented out - ie, used and abused

the front bucket is a mess, with weld marks all over it, making one wonder what you did with it

the rear 'hoe looks like something out of the 60s -- especially with it needing service.

both my b2410 and b2400 with 950 and 1100 hours on them look newer and fresher than your rig -- and i do use them as tractors, not lawn decorators.

that's just me -- i would pass on it.

When I was looking for used tractors three years ago I would have bought yours in a second at the price you are asking. I found very few used tractors then and the ones that I did find were not in as good condition as the one you are selling. And they were asking within $1,000.00 of new price. I ended up buying new. I think it is the difference in the economy now verses three years ago and not your tractor.

I was asking $8250 for the bare tractor no loader or $10K w/ my FEL setup, ATI adapter and 2 skid buckets.

Here are the two lines I keep hearing;

1*1) I will just buy a new one and sell it when I'm done.

> This is exactly what I am trying to do w/o much success. I think it's harder then it sound w/ 0% financing deals.

2) I won't save that much if I buy used.

> This is not true. To buy a new machine similar to my B7800+FEL package I think it would run close to $16K. That's somewhere around a 35% savings to buy used.

I have not seen a cheaper B7800 advertised that actually sold. In the end, the worst case is... I am stuck with my Kubota. I think I can live with that, so I don't see any reason to give it away. It will just continue to be a garage queen.
1*Just like you're doing.

Care to share what a typical arrangement maybe between a dealer and consigner? I assume the dealer gets a cut, is it usually a flat fee or a %? I was wondering if I could trade it in for an older, cheaper tractor in dealer inventory and get some cash back... I assume this would be unusual?

I can't speak for others. We kinda come up with the terms we do on a case by case basis. % or flat fee, also depends if your using the cash towards a new machine. Typicaly we don't do trades with cash out, but I can't speak for everyone. It messes with the way we floor plan equipment when we do that. I guess a dealer could, but if they where willing to odds are your getting a raw deal in the process.

I am also listing the tractor "for barter" in some local craigslists board and I have actually been seeing more activity in trade. I have gotten offers of a 92 corvette and a 79 Trans Am so far... neither really my type. It makes an interesting situation where if I can trade for a car, I can sell it at wholesale auction easier then the tractor.

I'm just trying to advertise the "lowest price" and the loader is customized. I have $$$ into this loader that I will probably not recoup, w/ the ATI bracket and custom buckets. I have a feeling I could adapt it to another tractor down the road... so if somebody is just looking for a machine to mow or use the 3pt, maybe they wouldn't need the loader. The manual makes the disconnect process very simple, although I have never done it!

I recently went with a friend of mine (we used my PU truck and trailer) to travel from our home in Southern Maryland to upstate NY for him to inspect and then buy a tractor that he had found on ebay.

I'm with the poster that suggested that you expand you're local market base. If you have a good enough deal, get out of the local market and advertise in the surrounding states.

Just make sure you accurately describe the machine.

the economy is bad. Things just aren't worth what they were 3 years ago. And won't be for a while. That's what happens in a recession...
