John Deere tractors come from the dealer with amber strobes in this country as they are compulsory on the highway. My 3520 has the strobe on a JD bracket which does not interfere with folding the ROPS. The same bracket would certainly fit your bigger machine.

Thanks for the photos! This is exactly what I am looking for. I intended to fabricate one out of square or round tubing and mount a strobe to it in the same location as yours. I have a spare strobe light, I just need the bracket.

I found a two-wire plug with a cap on it tucked up in the wiring harness that runs between the rear fenders behind the seat - tucked up under the lip of the panel between the fenders. It is located near my third SCV hydraulic connectors. Anybody have a clue what this might be?

OtterBrookStables,

Did you look under the console cover to see if you have the Strobe connection in place?

No - I haven't pulled it apart yet. Doesn't really matter anyway because I want a dedicated switch for each - the strobe, fwd lights, rear lights. The stock connectors are "all on" or "all off" with the headlights. So, unless I'm missing something, I'll need to wire them all back to the relay system. I'm going to mount the relay right in the right fender control console under the bank of switches. Working on designing and fabricating a strobe mount now, then I'll install everything at once.

The bracket even uses the original bolt and is held firmly by the structure carrying the lights. It has a central connector protected by a rubber cap when not in use so that the strobe can be taken off and put back on very easily. That's precious as it tends to get caught in bushes and trees more than any other part of the tractor. Even without the strobe in place, I manage to get the tubing entangled in branches quite often. So if you build one, make it strong !

Okay - so I checked the wiring diagram on jdparts.com. They callthis plug and jumper/cap as "not used in this application". It's bugging the **** out of me! It's got to be there for a reason.:confused::confused:

Got a voltmeter? Start checking...

I think I know what it is - I think it is the operator seat presence interlock for a backhoe attachment. Just a hunch, but it's in the right location and it has a jumper cap on it.

Now I feel better even though I'll never use the darn thing!
