Thomas, exactly why I've been trying to get her to learn how to operate the tractor. In the past, there were lots of times I was gone for a couple days at a time for work (not so much anymore)....... and I thought it would be a good idea in case she needed to do the driveway to get to work. She didn't really agree.

That's definitely not Berthoud, CO folks. Berthoud is a lot tamer than that. So where in the Colorado hills were you doing that work?

I used to work with a guy who built a large off-grid home at 9,300' outside Idaho Springs, CO. That is his year round residence.

HaHa,
below picture is of the hole I dug with a 2520 (48" bucket) until it got hyd problem. I got the 3320 because local dealer wasn't able to fix the 2520 faster enough (house was onsite).

The house is near co 14 and us 40 east of rabbit ear pass. The hole was 36' x 72' by 4' deep. Garage was 24 deep by 32 wide. This picture was taken Aug 07.

Note on previous picture. If I couldn't back up the hill, my son would jump in BH seat and pull me back. :)

Johndeere3720,
They are great looking tractors but what is a "boomer 8N ???

MissouriThunder

It's a sorta semi replica of the old Ford 8n tractors .
There are at least 2 threads on TBN about them.
Do a search for some interesting reading on them .

LBrown59,
Yes, I'll do the research. Leave it to a 14 year old to confuse the he** out of me.

Jake,
You gotta give me a heads up when you do this. I really thought someone "tricked out" an old 8N.

NSBound,
Thanks.

That's a pretty area. I like North Park; but I suspect the winters are brutal up there. When they used to have the vintage car races in Steamboat Springs, I always took CO 14 through Walden and connected up with US 40. It sure beat taking the crowded tourist route through Kremling.

I saw the retro Boomer on the NH web site. I wonder how much of a premium NH charges for those puppies. That seat looks uncomfortable to me.

When I was at the dealer, they had 3 Boomer 8n's in stock. One was getting ready for a FEL. The tractor alone is 30k and 35k with a loader. These are some nice tractors. I even got brochures!:) I also noticed that they have a little windsheild in front of the dash. I made sure i got a picture under the hood too. :D I would have more pictures but im having downloading problems so I have to print and scan the pictures onto the computer. If I won the lottery in the future, i would ship one of these down to Missouri Thunder for him to play with it. Of course it whould have a FEL.:) Oh, and the seat was very comfortable.

6 months ago, I was considering a rebuilt 8N for my primary machine. "Just 8N" or an Indiana company with a name similar to that, TOTALLY re-manufactures them. But at a price. 9 Grand!! So, I decided against it. I mean you get a "new" tractor, but it is still an 8N. Know what I mean?

It was during that period when I came upon the news of this Boomer 8N by NH coming out. Oh man! Nostalgia is a powerful weapon and very tempting. The 8N was an every man's tractor. 20-24 HP. And affordable. Affordable! Practical and fixable. They came with a tool kit. I think Ford sold something like 400,000 units one year. My only and dominant gripe is this.

This NH Boomer, while drop dead gorgeous, almost completely misses the original 8N target audience.

Maybe we should take this conversation elsewhere.

Jake,
You are the most thoughtful and kindest 14-year old I have ever met in my life and that includes my three sons !!! I'm not a gambler but if I ever come across a large sum of money I will personally drive to the west coast and deliver you a new "boomer 8N" as well. I would love to meet your parents and congratulate them on an outstanding job they have done of raising you young man. KEEP THE PICS COMING !!!

Pals forever,
MissouriThunder

bp fick,
I disagree. I believe that's exactly why Johndeere3720 started this thread, to get us talking about tractors. Old and new alike. I like the way this kid thinks. :) :) :)
