I was running the Bush Hog and something hit the rear tire valve stem. The stem was cocked to the side and the tire was leaking air and fluid. I am not sure how to repair so I put air in the tire so I could load the tractor on the trailer. I put some wood blocks under the subframe to hold the tractor up so the rim will not settle on the tire. I notice it appears to be two pieces and has a collar that screws down against are toward the rim.
Are these stems pushed in? Is this something that can be repaired with the wheel on the tactor? I plan to take to dealer for repair but wondered what might be involved.
Thanks for any input.

I can't be much help, but my Bobcat has a 1/4" steel guard welded to the rim around the valve stem. Apparently damaging valve stems is not uncommon.

Based on what threads I have been reading this is pretty common. Some folks have welded a piece of pipe to protect the stems. Some tractors have other devices to protect the stems. At this time I'll focus on fixing, then see about protecting! ;)

If the valve stem has a round knurled nut that screws against the rim , it is a tube type . If the valve stem has been damaged , it is a simple a mater for the tyre centre to remove the tube , cut the valve off the tube , buff the area and glue another valve in it's place . The new valve is attached to a tube patch and glues on just like a repair patch . It saves the cost of a new tube and the ones i have on my tractor have had no problems .

On edit , I have just found a picture of the replacement valve . There is also one that is retractable so it can be pushed in out of harms way , pretty tricky I thought .

Hummm what year is your tractor..??? My Kubota came with stem guards.

I had a leak when I first got my Kubota B7800, but all it needed was to tighten the nut on the stem and all was well. A deep socket worked for me.

I broke off a valve stem or two. I ovalled some pipe and welded it onto the puny stem guards that were on the rims.

If your tire is tubeless you'll have to break the outer bead to remove the valve from the rim. There should be a hex nut at the base of the stem on the outside that you can see. Remove this nut & washer and the whole stem will slip to the inside. Since tractor tires can be a real bear to seat the bead on and you probably don't have any means to pump fluid back in, a tire shop will be your best bet.

Thanks all for replying and sorry I have not responded earlier.... busy week. I was all wrong with my identifying the issue. The wife took the tractor to the dealer. They don't do tire work but pulled the wheel/rim and drained the rear tire. My wife then transported to the tire place. Come to find out the rears have tubes on my L4240 2008 model. While the fluid and air I saw was coming out at the valve stem I had actually on the inside of the tire near the tractor had a piece of old woven wire through the tire and tube as well as stick. I did not look for or notice this as I thought the stem was the issue. Since the tube was damaged fluid was leaking out of the tube into the area between the tube and tire and the out of the valve stem hole. Tire place had to replace the tube. Then back to the tractor place to have the wheel remounted and filled. About 220 bucks later I am back up and rolling. I really blew what the issue was.....
Thanks for the responses!
