Buying Mahindra 5525

I will be purchasing a new Mahindra 5525 for a small hay operation and wanted to know if the FEL will handle a 850 pound bale grab + 600 pounds of square bales in it. I know the loader capacity is there but will the tractor have enough mass and weight to handle a object as large and cumbersome as this.

On any tractor rear ballast weight is a good idea if lifting with a loader, as it just makes the whole thing more stable.

I like that Long grapplator. Neat, but probably expensive

My 2008 Mahindra 5525 has loaded rears and I carry my double bottom plow on the 3pt hitch for ballast when I tote heavy loads on the ML250 FEL. Haven't had a problem yet.

I'm doing oat hay on 6 of my 10 acres and baling with an MF124 small square baler (14x18x35-45"L, 40-50 lb bales). So I couldn't justify the cost of a store-bought bale accumulator/grapple like that Long thingy since my operation is so small. So I built my own combo bale accumulator/bale squeeze





The accumulator rides on the bale squeeze arms and handles 8 bales. Whole thing weighs about 650 lb.

I can stack and move 16 bales with the squeeze. Cost about $1600 for steel and hydraulics. Ran many pounds of 7014 and 7024 weld rod through my stick welder for this project.
